Last week was amazing for Oak Bay Track and Field as we have now completed the Lower Island and Island Championships. The Junior team captured its 28th consecutive City Championship. The Senior team won its 24th City Championship in a row. Over 100 athletes qualified for the city championships and 35 boy and girl athletes managed to capture a gold medal finish. An amazing total of 118 top-three finishes were recorded by Oak Bay athletes. It was a great effort by everyone involved. Joe Robertson highlighted the championship with a new record in the boys Grade 9 3000 meter run. The boys grade 9 Junior and Senior divisions managed to sweep all the relays at the city championships as well. At the Island Championships last Wednesday and Thursday the Junior team recorded its 26th consecutive victory and the Senior team its 25th consecutive victory. An amazing pair of streaks by an amazing team. In total 23 different Oak Bay athletes or teams were Island Champions with 65 total top-three finishes in the meet as well.
