The SAT test is back in full force, now that some of the more competitive universities have moved back to requiring it. Most students will take their first SAT test sometime in Grade 11. If you are planning to get your SAT test-taking underway this year, you may wish to consider signing up for the SAT Prep Course being offered this fall at SMUS. This 12-session course will develop the skills needed to be confident and successful on the SAT test and is timed for the SAT sitting on December 7th, 2024. Details below.

Times: Saturdays 10:00 am to 12:15 pm / Wednesdays 6:00 pm to 8:15 pm
Location: Crothall Hall (SMUS Senior School) – Classroom 116

UVic Law, in collaboration with UBC and TRU Law School, are hosting a BC Law School information session at UVic this fall on October 21st from 1:00-4:00 pm.  The event will be held in the Murray and Anne Fraser Building, Room 159.  Their primary objective for the event is to:

  • Offer valuable insights into the law school application process and admission requirements
  • Foster a sense of community among students interested in pursuing law
  • Facilitate networking between attendees, faculty, and staff from all schools

On Wednesday, October 16th the South Island Partnership and Camosun are hosting the second Health Exploration Springboard at Interurban Campus Centre for Health and Wellness from 9:00 am – 12:00.   Grade 11 and 12 students will have an opportunity to see the learning spaces and hear from instructors of the various health programs.  Many of the programs offer classes that can be taken while you are still in high school (dual credit) and this is a great time to explore options. A bus will be leaving from the Tolmie School Board Office by 9:00 am and drop students back off at the Tolmie School Board Office at 12:15 pm.  Students are welcome to apply and can pick up an application from Ms. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre and return it complete by Wednesday, October 9th.
