The Halloween Dance is coming up on Wednesday, October 29th, from 7-10 PM. Tickets will be on sale this week at lunch by the social stairs $5.00 each. Hope to see you there.

Basketball – Junior Girls Tryouts Wednesday 3:30 pm – all interested players for ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams, please come on Wednesday, October 29th at 3:30 pm in the small gym. Second tryout for ALL will be on Tuesday, November 4th, at 6:30 pm in the small gym. Further ‘A’ team shortlist tryouts Saturday, November 8th, at 3:30 pm in the small gym, and Monday, November 10th, at 5:00 pm in the small gym. The Art & Culture Trip will be selling Pizza at lunchtime on Friday, October 31st, to fundraise for next summer’s trip.
Police Camp 2026 will be the first week of Spring Break, Saturday, March 14 to Saturday, March 21st. It is an eight-day leadership program for students from grades 10-12. Camp will be held at St Margaret’s School, like last year. Come by to learn more! UBC Medical Outreach will be in the Career Centre on Nov. 4th at lunch. The Ambassador Program is where current MD students give presentations to high school students about the admissions process and share their journeys to becoming medical students. If you are thinking of becoming a doctor, you should attend the information session.
Go Eng Girl – Engineering for Every Body – Saturday, Nov. 22nd, 11:00 am @ UVic. Go ENG Girl is a national event held by Universities across Canada, designed to introduce high school girls, non-binary, and gender-diverse youth to the world of engineering. This event is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in the visual arts, design, and creative industries to explore post-secondary options, meet representatives from leading institutions, and get inspired by a wide range of programs and career paths. Prospective Student Information Session in Victoria – University of Toronto will be here at Oak Bay on Nov. 7th at lunch in the Career Centre. If you are unable to make it to our session, they will also be at St. Michael’s University School on Nov. 5th from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. This event is for prospective students and their families, and supporters. Students can register here.
UVic Law is hosting a BC Law School Information Session open to anyone interested in applying to a BC law school or learning more about the application process. Congratulations to the Oak Bay cross country team, who finished their league races with the junior girls team finishing in 1st, Junior boys 1st, senior boys 2nd, and senior girls 1st. We wish them the best of luck in their Island Zone Championships tomorrow at Beaver Lake.

Junior Achievement BC (JABC) TechWorks – All students can apply for this in-person one-day event to explore and learn more about careers in Mech Eng, Civil Eng, Electronics & Computer Science through hands-on learning. This event will be at the Camosun Interurban Campus on December 4th from 9:30 am to 2:15 pm. Bus transportation and lunch will be provided. Volunteering Opportunities
IReStore is looking for volunteers. They have two locations – Victoria ReStore at 721 Vanalman Avenue, and Westshore ReStore at 849 Orono Avenue. Both stores support Habitat Victoria helping to raise funds for local working families to achieve affordable homeownership in our local communities. ReStores are open 7 days per week, with a particular need for weekend volunteers – Student volunteer shifts are 2-4 hours between 9:00am – 5:00pm (11:00am – 5:00pm on Sundays). Students are welcome to request specific shifts, and we can be very flexible for the most part. More specifics on this can be discussed at time of application. They ask that students commit to at least their full 30 hours with us (100 for WEX). On the job training is provided. Anyone under 19 years must have parent/guardian permission. 16+ only. Volunteers must be able to work independently, follow direction, and also collaborate with employees and other volunteers. Here’s the link to apply. https://www.habitatvictoria.com/volunteer
