The Model United Nations Club will be taking place at lunch TODAY in room 145. Any students interested in joining are welcome to drop by.
There will be a Police Camp presentation in the Career Centre at lunch on October 14th. Police Camp 2026 will be the first week of Spring Break, Saturday March 14 to Saturday March 21st. It is an eight-day leadership program for students from grades 10-12. Camp will be held at St Margaret’s School like last year. Come by to learn more! Leadership is organizing a Mustard Seed Food Drive for October. Bring non-perishable items to the boxes located in your classroom or outside the office. Grade 9s, the class that brings in the most items will win a prize.
Marine Career Expo – Sunday, Oct. 5, 10 am – 3 pm at Ogden Point. Ships from the Navy and Coast Guard will be available to view for the public (tours).

Oak Bay students are invited to attend a UK University Fair on Thursday, Oct. 2nd, from 4 pm to 7 pm at St. Michael’s University School in the single gym, 3400 Richmond Rd. There will be over 40 universities represented at the event. This event is an invaluable opportunity for our students to explore their higher education options. Grade 9/10 Girls Basketball – There is a group of students in the Fall Sunday Basketball League starting on October 19th. There may be a couple of spots available to interested Gr.9/Gr.10 girls. Please email cjobbins@sd61.bc.ca if interested asap.
UVIC AND CAMOSUN INFORMATION EVENING
Oak Bay would like to invite you to join the annual UVic and Camosun College Information Evening on October 7th from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in our theatre. This event provides an opportunity for students and parents to learn about the programs offered, scholarships, admissions, the application process, and to speak with the representatives. St. Michael’s University School is also hosting the VICE Fair, a US Colleges & Universities Fair on Monday, October 6th from 3:30-5:00 pm in the single gym at 3400 Richmond Rd. There will be over 50 US universities and colleges attending the fair, and Oak Bay students and parents are invited to attend. This event allows students to gain insight into their future academic journeys.

Volunteering Opportunities
ReStore is looking for volunteers. They have two locations – Victoria ReStore at 721 Vanalman Avenue, and Westshore ReStore at 849 Orono Avenue. Both stores support Habitat Victoria helping to raise funds for local working families to achieve affordable homeownership in our local communities. ReStores are open 7 days per week, with a particular need for weekend volunteers – Student volunteer shifts are 2-4 hours between 9:00am – 5:00pm (11:00am – 5:00pm on Sundays). Students are welcome to request specific shifts, and we can be very flexible for the most part. More specifics on this can be discussed at time of application. They ask that students commit to at least their full 30 hours with us (100 for WEX). On the job training is provided. Anyone under 19 years must have parent/guardian permission. 16+ only. Volunteers must be able to work independently, follow direction, and also collaborate with employees and other volunteers. Here’s the link to apply. https://www.habitatvictoria.com/volunteer

- Receiving and sorting donations
- Cleaning and tagging donations
- Merchandising the store floor
- Keeping the store clean and tidy
- Moving furniture and merchandise
