Future Innovators: Empowering Women in STEM @ Vic High
Island Women in Science and Technology would like to invite you to join them for an inspiring evening with our panel of women in STEM. We are bringing together future innovators from middle school, high school, and post secondary along with professional women in STEM for a candid conversation about their STEM careers.

A Sailor for a Day is again being offered on October 25th, 8 am – 4 pm at 1586 Esquimalt Rd. The day is free for youth in grades 8-12. Spend the day with the Navy in Esquimalt -meet sailors, try activities, and watch demonstrations. The SAT test is back in full force, now that some of the more competitive universities have moved back to requiring it. Most students will take their first SAT test sometime in Grade 11. If you are planning to get your SAT test-taking underway this year, you may wish to consider signing up for the SAT Prep Course being offered this fall at SMUS. This 12-session course will develop the skills needed to be confident and successful on the SAT test and is timed for the SAT sitting on December 7th, 2024. Details below.

Spring Break Police Camp will take place from March 15th to 22nd. There will be an information session about camp on Oct. 2nd at lunch in the Career Centre. Students from grades 10-12 are welcome to attend. The applications this year will be through Google Forms. UVic Law, in collaboration with UBC and TRU Law School, are hosting a BC Law School information session at UVic this fall on October 21st from 1:00-4:00 pm. The event will be held in the Murray and Anne Fraser Building, Room 159. Their primary objective for the event is to:
- Offer valuable insights into the law school application process and admission requirements
- Foster a sense of community among students interested in pursuing law
- Facilitate networking between attendees, faculty, and staff from all schools

BC Elections is hiring high school students for short-term jobs centred around the October 2024 election.
We’re looking for students who are:
- between 15 and 19,
- interested in community service, student government or service clubs,
- able to work in a neutral and impartial way, and comfortable using technology.
