Tryouts begin Tuesday, Jan 28th
Would you like to complete a math class faster, on your own, or out of the timetable? Come to a meeting on Friday at lunch in room 309. Bring your lunch. This gives you a chance to create space in your timetable later in your high school career.
There will be a Barbs Rugby Tour meeting for all grade 9 & 10 boys who are interested in a tour during spring break 2027. The meeting will be for players & parents on Wednesday, January 22nd at 6:00 PM in room 231
All students wishing to sell compost will have an information/sign-up meeting on Thursday, January 23, at Lunch in the Band Room.
Grade 10 and 11 students looking for a fun, educational experience this summer can apply to McGill Summer Academy (MSA) a two-week academic summer camp held on McGill University’s downtown campus. With classes in the morning, opportunities to explore the city in the afternoon, and the chance to make friends from all over the world, MSA is a great way for students to spend an unforgettable two weeks in Montreal.
They offer two streams: Pathways to Neuro and Health Sciences and Understanding Migration, Global Citizenship and Diasporic Resistance. Participants will develop their academic interests through coursework, skill-building activities and experiential learning, all led by McGill faculty and graduate students. They’ll leave MSA with new, lifelong friendships and the confidence to apply to the university of their dreams!
Program dates are July 6 – July 19 and July 20 – August 2. The application deadline is March 1st. Get more details and access to the application on the McGill Summer Academy website.

Big congrats to two of our Grade 12 Creative Writing students for their success in the Greater Victoria Public Library’s Tiny Stories Contest. Hooray to Lola for crafting her winning story and to Jack for placing as a finalist. Read their awesome 450-character tiny stories on the GVPL website.
Congratulations to the OB ski team on a fantastic start of the race season. In Mount Washington, yesterday Dallas, Sophie and Kennedy swept the girls snowboard podium, and Callum, Mackenzie and Kiyoshi did the same for boys snowboarding. Yo-yo won the boys skiing and Mayla took third in girls skiing. Great start and fantastic racing by everyone!
Volunteering Opportunities
Do you enjoy anime fandom and Japanese culture? Tsukino-Con is an Anime Convention at UVic from February 15th – 17th 2025, and they are looking for volunteers in all positions.
