Oak Bay’s Evening of Dance will be taking place on January 21st and 22nd. This performance showcases pieces from our Troupe, Hip-Hop, K-Pop, POM, and Intermediate dance classes.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Next week, The Snack Store will be selling sweets and chips during lunch in front of the Cafeteria.

OB Shirt Film Fest is coming on January 28th during Focus.  Accepting entries until January 24th, see Mr. Laird in room 151 for details.  Congrats to last Year’s entrants Isla Herdman and Lucy Erickson whose entry “Marbles” just won first place in the Victoria Film Festival student category.

This program allows students who participate to receive 15 volunteer hours that go towards graduation.
Our Program
Our program provides young leaders with an opportunity to develop essential skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership. Through workshops, mentorship, and real-world projects, students will not only enhance their personal growth but also make a positive impact in their community.
Cohort Dates
Our teen cohort (13-18) runs this fall from January 19th to March 16th, 2025. We will also be sending out information regarding our second cohort starting in February soon.

Big congrats to two of our Grade 12 Creative Writing students for their success in the Greater Victoria Public Library’s Tiny Stories Contest.  Hooray to Lola for crafting her winning story and to Jack for placing as a finalist.  Read their awesome 450-character tiny stories on the GVPL website.

Congratulations to the OB ski team on a fantastic start of the race season. In Mount Washington, yesterday Dallas, Sophie and Kennedy swept the girls snowboard podium, and Callum, Mackenzie and Kiyoshi did the same for boys snowboarding. Yo-yo won the boys skiing and Mayla took third in girls skiing. Great start and fantastic racing by everyone!

Xavier Pelletier High School Summer Internship Program at the Trev & Joyce Deeley Research Centre
If you like the idea of cancer research over the summer and are currently in grade 11 you can apply to the Xavier Pelletier High School Internship Program at BC Cancer’s Trev & Joyce Deeley Research Centre here in Victoria.  You must be available all summer to work. No exceptions.  A $3,000 bursary toward post-secondary education will be awarded to each student who successfully completes the 8-week program.
This program has been designed to offer students the opportunity to explore cancer research from the front lines, learning the latest techniques in the fight against cancer today and setting the ground for the future. Each student will be responsible for a research project, which they will develop and implement from start to finish with continual support from a designated supervisor and a team of research scientists.
Students must take Biology 11 or 12 in grade 11 to be eligible. Students must have a minimum 85% projected average in Biology 11 or 12*, and any two of math, chemistry, or physics. Oak Bay selects its 2 nominees in February. * Note: Grade 12 courses will be accepted in place of Grade 11 courses, provided the overall 85% projected average is met.

UBC Faculty of Medicine recently launched the MD Outreach Youth Mentorship Program.​
