Congratulations to the Oak Bay Ski & Board Team on a great first race at Mt. Washington this past weekend, competing against 11 schools on the Island. Oak Bay was the top school in Boys Snowboarding and Girls Skiing; also finishing 3rd in both Girls Snowboarding and Boys Skiing. Shoutout to Grade 12 Captain Sophie Longe take home the Gold in snowboarding
Any grades 9 through 11 athletes interested in a potential track and field tour to the Mediterranean during spring break of 2027, please come to room 300 at lunch this Thursday.
If you fancy your ping pong skills and want to compete against students and staff in a school-wide ping pong tournament, please come to the front office to sign up!
HMCS MALAHAT is hosting an open house on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, from 10 am to 3 pm, where students can learn about the Navy, meet sailors, and see what they do.

Grade 11 students can now apply for U of Alberta Getaway 2026 at our Augustana Campus in Camrose!
Their adventure will include transportation reimbursement*, accommodations, meals, and a jam-packed schedule of events. They will become familiar with campus, learn about our programs, experience what sets U of A student life apart, and meet other amazing students from across Canada. Plus, we’ll give them a taste of the city surrounding the campus.

Are you interested in a degree and a career that helps solve the most pressing environmental challenges society faces? The Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, is hosting monthly information sessions on January 13, February 12, and March 12.
Program areas include: resource conservation, wildlife and fisheries management, energy and climate solutions, chemical engineering, sustainable cities, innovative bio-products, indigenous land stewardship and forest management. Students can register here. (sessions are online via zoom)
Volunteering Opportunities
Sundance-Bank Elementary School (1623 Bank St.) is looking for volunteers to childmind while a few parents are at a school meeting from 6:15-8pm on Wednesday, January 14th. Please see Ms. Giesbrecht if you are interested.
Greater Victoria Green Team is looking for volunteers for several days in November and December to help improve the environment. You will have an opportunity to plant native species and remove different invasive species. This is the type of volunteering that all students, including international students, can take part in. ReStore is looking for volunteers. They ask that students commit to at least their full 30 hours with them (100 for WEX). On-the-job training is provided. Anyone under 19 years must have a parent/guardian’s permission. 16+ only. Volunteers must be able to work independently, follow directions, and collaborate with employees and other volunteers.
