Senior girls & boys rugby teams play at SMUS after school TODAY. Kick-off times are 4:00 & 4:30.
Congratulations to the senior girls soccer team! They are the Ryan Cup Champions!!! The girls are off to battle for the island title on Monday and Tuesday in Nanaimo. Good luck girls!
For any dancers interested in participating in the Oak Bay Tea Party Parade on June 4th, there is a sign-up sheet outside Ms. Alana’s door in the dance studio. All levels are welcome and rehearsals will be mandatory.
Congratulations to the Junior Boys rugby team for qualifying for the Island Finals next week.
A big congratulations to the Oak Bay Track and Field team who came in 1st in all divisions at the Lower Island Championships this Wednesday. Not only did the team win all four junior and senior divisions, but they also brought back the trophy for the Combined Divisions category that Oak Bay High School has won since 1991, for 31 straight titles in a row!!!
Throughout the Lower Island League and Championships there were highlights from Mason Andulajevic in the Senior boys division, who won Discus, Javelin, Shot Put and Hammer Throw events, which led him to the title of Top Male Field Athlete in the Lower Island. In the Senior Girls division, Elly McDowell-Mitchell won the 100m, 200m, and 400m events throughout the season and is a key member of our 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Tyler Browne was named Top Male Track Athlete of the season as he won the 3000m, 1500m, and 800m races while also being a major contributor on the 4x400m Junior Boys team.
The Track and Field team looks very strong this year going into our Island Championships May 18th to 19th. Good luck next week Oak Bay and keep up the hard work!

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES CAN BEGIN THEIR CAREER AT SEA!
Indigenous people and women who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents are invited to participate in the fully-funded Bridge Watch Rating program. You will learn and enhance seamanship skills, earn nationally-recognized certifications, and embark upon an exciting, entry-level career in the Marine industry. Hear from experienced sailors, take field trips, practice hands-on techniques, and undertake a practicum at sea. Marine-based employers are excited to hire our graduates!

Science Rendezvous – Free Family Festival!
This year, the University of Victoria and Camosun College partner to bring Science Rendezvous to Victoria for the first time. Science Rendezvous is a national STEM outreach initiative with one of the largest one-day festivals promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in Canada.
Head to UVic or Camosun Interurban (or both!) on May 7 from 10 am to 3 pm to learn side-by-side from real, world-renowned scientists, engineers, mathematicians and computer and software experts who live right here in Victoria. This free event is open to all ages.
Activities include:
Explore why Vancouver Island Rocks! Look at local geology, rocks as part of Earth’s rock cycle, and play fossil detective to identify real fossils.
Vibrabugs: Do a bit of soldering and then race your electronic bug through a maze.
Discover the science behind medical X-rays
Look at stars using the largest telescope on any Canadian university campus

Future Global Leaders – UBC
Your students aged 15 to 18 can get a head start on their academic goals with the UBC Future Global Leaders program. This pre-university program is a great way for your students to work out what their passions are while they’re still in high school, and prepare for success at university and beyond by studying a popular course without the stress of exams. Students can attend either online courses that last three weeks or join us on campus in Vancouver, for two-week courses (that combine morning classes, afternoon workshops, and fun social activities). Future Global Leaders runs on various dates in July and August.
