Monday ADVISORY TEACHERS –  pick up your Grad Ceremony Comments sheets from your mail drawers this morning to hand out to your grade 12’s in Advisory.

 EVENING OF DANCE –  May 10, 11, 12  –  7:00 pm in the Theatre. Tickets on sale in the Accounts office or main office.  Students/seniors -$8.00.  Adults $10.00.

BOOK DRIVE – this week in support of the Canadian Diabetes Association. Drop off your gently used books to the boxes provided around the school.

BADMINTON – meeting after school today in Ms.Strom’s office to create line-up for tomorrow’s game at Claremont

OAK BAY FILM & TELEVISION –  will be holding a short film festival on Friday, June 3rd during focus.  We are opening the festival to entries from all Oak Bay students.  Entries must be submitted to Mr. Laird by Monday, May 30th and be no longer than 5 minutes.  See Mr. Laird in 151 for details

C4C VOLUNTEERS – Sunday May 29 there will be a Spring Kids Fun Fair at Willows Beach in support of C4C. We need a number of volunteers to help out with the running stations, baking, selling food, set up & take down. See Ms. Kinnear in room 313 anytime to sign-up for this fun and rewarding event.

LEADERSHIP STUDENTS – There will be a meeting for the Grade 8 Orientation this Wednesday May 4 in room 300 at lunch. All Leadership Students welcome!

PLAYLAND – reminder tomorrow Tuesday May 3 – Physics trip to Playland – Vancouver.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP – Did you know more than 400,000 children die of zinc deficiency.  An estimated 17.3% of the global population is at risk of inadequate zinc intake.Oak Bay Community Leadership is holding a “Zinc Saves” Battery drive from May 2nd. to May 20th  donation boxes will be located in the cafeteria and outside the Library.

GRAD 2016—UVic Ceremony Tickets – Grade 12 students or parents are reminded to contact the UVic Ticket Centre to reserve their tickets and either pick them up or arrange to have them mailed to you asap. Extra tickets cannot be distributed until all grads pick up their required Ceremony tickets.

STUDENTS – If you have changes  on your Course Verification Forms please  indicate any corrections that need to be made to your  course selections for next year directly on the form, have a parent sign the form and then return the signed form to the office, they are due today.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP -reminder to keep raising money this week. Community Leadership is challenging all Advisories to raise money for the SPCA.  The Advisory  with the most money by  next May 9th  will win a Pizza Lunch for their Advisory.  Advisory Teachers,  your fundraising envelopes are in your mail drawer,  in the office, send a runner to pick them up today to start collecting!

CAREER CENTRE  – Job OpportunityThere is a  job opportunity starting this summer for a couple of gr. 12 students looking for work beyond this summer.  You will need to have your driver’s license.  The job would be learning how to use excavation equipment, pipe laying, reading plans, etc.   Starting wage is $15 an hour and would be full time.  Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre if you are interested in one of these positions.

*SUMMER JOB – An Oak Bay Alumni is looking for someone to help him with his garden.  This will be a paid position and continue through the summer.  You will be expected to cut the grass, weed eat and generally clean up the yard.  If you are interested please see Mrs. Giesbrecht for information on how you can apply.

 *The University of Toronto will be hosting and information evening in Victoria this Thursday May 5th from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  The session will take place at St. Michael’s University School in the Copeland Lecture Theatre, 3400 Richmond Rd.  Doors open at 6:30 pm for registration.  For more information and to register early visit  www.discover.utoronto.ca/infoevent

*Would the students who picked up application forms for Moksha Yoga Summer work experience please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre sometime today-Monday.

*Saanich Summer Leadership Programs – Youth Summer Internship Program supports 16 – 18 yrs.  in building employment readiness skills through month long mentored placements in summer camps and recreation centres.  For more information go to www.saanich.ca/youth   Send in your resume to loryn.anderson@saanich.ca  Successful completion of the program earns you a $500 honoraruim.

GRAD DINNER DANCE MOVIE – Mr. Carmichael needs photos/videos to make the Grad Dinner-Dance movie ASAP. It takes many hours to make and he needs to get started now.
