TEDx Pearson College Invitation

Oak Bay students are invited to attend the upcoming TEDxPearsonCollegeUWC, an independently organized TED event happening on Saturday, February 3, 2018. TEDxPearsonCollegeUWC will be a half-day afternoon TEDxUniversity event held at the Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific in Metchosin, Greater Victoria. Our theme for this event is “On The Flip Side”; the primary focus will be the inspirational stories and ideas of individuals who act locally, but whose achievements are of potential global significance. The talks are on various topics— radical projects, new ideas, an interesting way of approaching things, a lesson learnt from experiences, or even a common misconception to be cleared up.

In addition to the talks, there will be lunch and refreshments provided, as well as supplementary workshops, such as debates, discussions and the Human Library project. This is a real networking opportunity for innovative minds and passionate students in the greater Victoria area, looking to expand their horizons.

The event will be structured such that there is a live performance of the talks held in the Max Bell Theatre which is limited to a capacity of 100 and students must fill out a brief application outlining their interests. This will cost $12 to attend. There will also be a live showings of the talk in the Jane and Jack Matthews Room which will cost $8 to attend. The live showing price will still include access to all food, refreshments and workshops.

Students can purchase tickets here: https://www.universe.com/events/tedxpearsoncollegeuwc-tickets-victoria-VG64NM?ref=universe-discover.   See Mrs. Giesbrecht if you have any questions.
