OAK BAY ON LINE PLANNING STUDENTS – There will be a VERY IMPORTANT meeting for ALL OAK BAY PLANNING ON-LINE STUDENTS TODAY – at lunch in Room 304.  Attendance is mandatory.

GRADE 9 “SPEAK OUT” – reminder to all Grade 9 Speak Out final contestants: You have a practice session in the Theatre today (Wed) at lunch. Be there at the lunch bell.

OAK BAY TENNIS TEAM – please excuse members of the Tennis Team at 2:40 –  block 7 today,  so that they can get to their game out at Stelly’s.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE – There is a Ultimate Frisbee practice after school today at the Track oval.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP –  Community Leadership is challenging all Advisories to raise money for the SPCA.  The Advisory  with the most money by May 9th  will win a Pizza Lunch for their Advisory.  Advisory Teachers,  your fundraising envelopes are in your mail drawer,  in the office, send a runner to pick them up today to start collecting!

CAREER CENTRE *Volunteer Opportunities – There are several new volunteer opportunities posted in the Career Centre   * Sunday April 10th kicks off National Volunteer Week 2016,(#NVW2016YYJ) and Volunteer Victoria is asking for your help in promoting volunteerism during April 10 -16th. They have a number of events planned with various non-profit organizations. Participants from all over Greater Victoria can attend an Open House Volunteer Info Session or participate in an Active Volunteer Session.   You can find all of the event details on our website.  Volunteer Victoria

*Volunteer Opportunity:   Oak Bay is looking for eight students to volunteer for our Career Fair on April 21st.  Three for the morning shift (7:30 to 9:30 a.m.), two for the middle shift (11:00 to 1:30 a.m.) and three for the afternoon shift (2:00 to 4:00 p.m.). Students would be expected to arrange their own transportation to and from the event and to wear their school leadership T-shirts to identify them as student volunteers for the day.   Each student is expected to provide a signed Certificate of Parental Authority form authorizing their absence from school.  Please have any interested students see Mrs. Giesbrecht to sign up for the event and to get a copy of the form for their parent’s to sign.

*Ryerson University will be in the Career Centre at lunch on Wednesday April 13th.  If you have applied or are thinking of applying next year please come by and speak with a Ryerson Advisor.

*Oaklands Community Association – Youth Leaders In Training 15-18 yrs.  Receive two weeks of in-depth training focusing on leadership skills and then take part in a mentored 4 week work placement at one of the various summer camps in Victoria.  Entry into this program will be determined by an informal interview.  Apply with a cover letter and resume to Ryan Lance by June 15th.  Attention: Ylit Program Coordinator at:  ylit.vic@gmail.com
