TODAY BLOCK 6 and 7 – there will be an Internet Safety presentation for all grade 9 students. It will be in the theatre following lunch. Students will report to class (Block 6) and be called down from there. Teachers – please escort and sit with your class in the theatre.
SENIOR PEER COUNSELLORS – There is a brief, mandatory meeting for all Senior Peer Counsellors in the counseling area at lunch today. Please bring your lunches. Every Thursday: All Senior Peer Counsellors please meet for lunch in the counselling area.

The Jr. Boys Volleyball team- had a very strong showing at the VIU tournament in Nanaimo. After finishing first in round robin play, the team made it to the final and ended up in 2nd place after losing in the final to Claremont. Good luck with the rest of your season.

CAREER CENTRE – Western University will be in the Career Centre after school tomorrow -Thursday Oct13th. *PARTY PROGRAM THIS THURSDAY IS FULL. WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANY MORE FORMS AT THIS TIME.
PSAT – Attention grade 11 students interested in heading to a US university after high school. You will have an opportunity to write the Practice SAT, (PSAT) Next Wed. October 19th here at Oak Bay. There is a $20.00 fee to write the exam and seating is limited. Students will be offered a seat on a first come first served basis. Southern Gulf Islands Fire / Rescue Cadet Camp – This 5 ½ day camp will take place from March 20 to 25, 2017. Accepted students will have an opportunity to learn the basic elements of Firefighting, Search and Rescue, Medical First Response and Rope Rescue. There will be a strong emphasis on teamwork, physical fitness and community service. Applications can be found on line at www.penderfire.org or in the Career Centre. Applicants must be 15 – 18 years of age. Please mail your completed applications to Deputy Chief Mike Dine by October 31st. Remember to have Mrs. Giesbrecht review your application before you mail it in so she can arrange for you to receive work experience credits for this week.
Would you like to be a “Soldier for a Day” on November 5th? This is a day event intended to give an interactive introduction to the various career opportunities available in the Canadian Armed Forces with a focus on the Army reserve. Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre if you would like to apply. They are accepting applications until the 28th of October.
