JUNIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL – practice in the small gym today a 5:00 pm. All Welcome

The Ballroom Dance Club officially starts today after school!  We are looking forward to seeing both staff and students at our first class!  We will meet for the next 6 Tuesdays in the Dance Studio from 3:15p.m. – 4:00p.m.  for our “1st Term” Session.

GRADE 9 DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT – in the big gym at lunch tomorrow-  Wed.  Nov. 9th.   Grade 9’s please sign your team up on the sign-up sheet in the office.  Genders must be equally represented and it’s free!

 28 HOUR FAMINE – There is a meeting for anyone interested in doing the 28 hour Famine, in room 304 at lunch today. Participants will get volunteer hours.

 “OPEN MIC” – Open Mic Night auditions, held this Thurs. Nov. 10th at 3:30 in the Theatre. If interested join Oak Bay High’s Open Mic night Facebook page.  Open Mic Night is on Thursday Nov. 24 @ 7:00pm.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP – is hosting an indoor soccer tournament on November 16-17 at lunch in the Big Gym. International and Canadian students welcome.  The winning team receives a Pizza Lunch!  Sign-up sheet is in the office.  We are looking for teams of 8. Its Free!

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOXES- Reminder to all advisories doing the Christmas Shoeboxes that they are due next Monday Nov. 14th.  The Advisory that fills the most boxes wins a Pizza lunch.  Anyone who needs volunteer hours, each shoebox is equivalent to two volunteer hours .  Bring all packed Shoeboxes to room 304.  

 CAREER CENTRE – UVic Gustavson School of Business will be in the Career Centre TODAY  at lunch.  The BCom’s unique program at Gustavson has a 2+2 structure.  In year 1 and 2 students complete pre-commerce courses (a mix of required courses and electives) and in year 3 and 4 students complete their commerce courses.  Come to the session and learn about the program, admissions and the application process.

*Camosun College will be in the Career Centre at lunch on Thursday  Nov. 10th.  During this session you will learn about the variety of programs Camosun offers, what required to get in and how to apply.

ROWING CLUB- Congratulations to the Oak Bay Rowing Crew who performed amazingly well at this  weekend’s City Championships. Oak Bay won the Senior overall category, as well as the biggest award of the weekend-the race efficiency trophy. Well done rowers!

CROSS COUNTRY – Oak Bay won the BC High School Boys Cross Country Championship, led by individual champion Tyler Dozzi, over a rugged hilly course at the Telemark Cross Country Park in Kelowna, BC.  Dozzi pulled away from runner up Thomas Nobbs of Vancouver’s Point Grey Secondary at the top of the final hill ascent to win  the gold medal by thirty-three seconds.   The Oak Bay team total of 42 points outdistanced second place Reynolds Secondary (74 point) and third place Langley R.E. Mountain (75 points.   The team is coached by teachers Keith Butler and Tessa Kubicek.     Full results at:   http://www.bcxc.ca/index.html

STUDENTS-OBHS is looking for MATH MENTORS / tutors for blocks 1-6.  This is your chance to make a difference in the school.  We need your help.  You can get credit, or volunteer hours, or reference letters or a great feeling by making a difference.  Please see tspray 309 or email tdspray@sd61learn.ca at your earliest convenience.

OAK BAY LEADERSHIP – will be taking a group of 25 – 30 students to the Royals Hockey game next Tuesday Nov. 15th.  Tickets are $13. The sign-up sheet is in the office and the International Room 202. Canadians and International students welcome.

BARBABIAN RUGBY TRY-OUTS In the Oval – Juniors-grade 9-10-Tues. Nov. 15 and Tues. Nov.22, 3:30-4:30. Seniors-grade 11 -12- Thurs. Nov. 17 and Thurs. Nov. 24, 3:30 – 4:30.  Bring a mouth-guard,  there will be tackling.  Any questions?? See Mr. Atkinson in room 231.
