BIKE TO SCHOOL AND WORK WEEK  – May 30 to June 5.  Bike to school and have your name entered in a draw for prizes in the main school foyer,  every morning this week.

C4C MEETING today – C4C Leadership Nomination Meeting (RE-Scheduled). The meeting for potential C4C Leaders will take place @ Lunch TODAY in Room 300. All people interested in being actively involved in the C4C Leadership core need to be at this meeting. Please see Mr. Jacques if you have any questions.

NEXT YEAR – PLANNING ON LINE – There will be a mandatory meeting this Friday, June 3rd at lunch in Room 304 for all students signed up for Planning On-Line at Oak Bay next year.  If you cannot attend, please see Miss Taggart prior to Friday

 OAK BAY FILM & TELEVISION –  will be holding a short film festival this  Friday, June 3rd during focus.  We are opening the festival to entries from all Oak Bay students.  Entries must be submitted to Mr. Laird by Monday, May 30th and be no longer than 5 minutes.  See Mr. Laird in 151 for details.

 JUNIOR  MUSICAL – the grade 9 Junior Musical “High School Musical Jr.” takes place next  Tuesday June 7th and  Thursday June 9th in the Theatre at 7:00pm.  Tickets available in the Accounts office today or at the door for $5.00.

TEAM PLANNING AND STUDY HALL – last one – this Thursday June 2nd .  No block 2.

OAK BAY MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAM –  Congratulations to the Oak Bay Mountain Bike team for a strong showing at the BC Championships on Saturday:  Max McCulloch brought home two golds and one silver.  1st in XC (cross-country, the Olympic event) with a winning margin of 6 minutes (49 minutes 32 seconds), 2nd in Enduro, (6:33, 5 seconds behind the leader), and the overall King of the Mountain.  Liam Morgan 17th in XC, 10th in Enduro, Jacob Van Dam 9th in Enduro, Jackson Morris 14th in Enduro, 28th in XC. Logan Rampton raced in the Grade 10 category, race results were not yet available at press time.

 CAREER CENTRE  – The Friends Uniting for Nature (FUN) Society is looking for volunteers We are currently searching for incredible volunteers to become camp counsellors in July and August (FUNateers)!  The camps run Monday-Friday from June 27 to September 2, from 9am-4pm.  We are based out of the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association at 1330 Fairfield road.  Volunteers come for an entire week or more and must be 17 or older. As a volunteer counsellor, you will also have the opportunity to develop a workshop or activity with your expertise if you like.  Please go to www.funcamps.ca to view the theme of each week!  Please contact Roxanne van Gemert at Fun Society if you are interested.  funeducationcoordinator@gmail.com

*Looking for volunteer opportunities?  Come to the Career Centre.  There are 30 new postings on the volunteer board. *ONE WEEK WELDING CAMP  – Who: Students aged 12 – 15     When: July 4 – 8th, 2016; 9:00am – 3:30pm Where: Spectrum Community School, 957 West Burnside Road    What: A five-day welding introduction that covers safety, welding processes, and allows students to weld their very own projects.    This week-long camp is completely FREE (generously supported by the CWA Foundation). Breakfast and lunch are provided for all five days, in addition to a student/parent BBQ on the Friday!     Pick up an application package in the Career Centre if you are interested.  All applications will be due by Friday, June 10th, and are to be submitted to the Careers & Transitions Office at 556 Boleskine Rd. or scanned copies can be sent directly to Nicola Priestley at npriestley@sd61.bc.ca
