ALL GRADS – EVERY GRADE 12 NEEDS TO PICK UP THEIR – “GRAD PACKUP FOLDER”  STARTNG TOMORROW-  WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY IN THE BLACK BOX AT NOON   YOUR PACKUP INCLUDES: GRAD PHOTO, DINNER DANCE TICKETS, BUS TICKETS, BLOCK PARTY INFO AND GRAD INFO.  *WE WILL ALSO BE CONFIRMING GRAD TRANSITION REQUIREMENTS AND GRAD WRITE UPS FOR GRAD CEREMONY.

 All Grade 12’s – GRAD SONG MEETING – today at lunch in the Black-Box.

EVENING OF DANCE –  Starts tonight Tuesday May 10, Wednesday May 11 & Thursday May 12  –  7:00 pm in the Theatre. Tickets on sale in the Accounts office.  Students/seniors  $8.00.  Adults  $10.00.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP – Advisory Teachers, HAND IN YOUR fundraising envelopes INTO THE OFFICE. Community Leadership is challenging all Advisories to raise money for the SPCA.  The Advisory  with the most money  will win a Pizza Lunch for their Advisory.

 LEADERSHIP STUDENTS – There will be a meeting about the “Grade 8 Orientation” tomorrow- Wednesday at Lunch in room 300. All Leadership students welcome!  Grade 8 Transition afternoon is Thursday May 19th.

 AWARDS COMMITTEE MEETING – at lunch today in the Career Centre.  New members welcome.

SUMMER SCHOOL – 2016 Summer School  registration forms and Continuing Education Summer Registrations forms can be picked up in the office starting today.

OAK BAY STRINGS – RECEIVED THE “Secondary School Award,” donated by the Victoria Symphony Foundation. The students will be accepting the award during the May 13th at the Greater Victoria Festival Highlights Concert at 7 pm, in the Philip T. Young Auditorium at UVIC. Congratulations!

 

CALLING ALL DODGEBALLERS– we are having a super-fun  Dodgeball tournament during lunch next Tuesday May 17 and Wednesday May 18.  The cost to register a team is $10.   Max group of 6.  Sign-up at-http://goo.gl/forms/353GwSNJ7K

BOOK DRIVE – continuing this week in support of the Canadian Diabetes Association. Drop off your gently used books to the boxes provided around the school.

 C4C VOLUNTEERS – Sunday May 29 there will be a Spring Kids Fun Fair at Willows Beach in support of C4C. We need a number of volunteers to help out with the running stations, baking, selling food, set up & take down. See Ms. Kinnear in room 313 anytime to sign-up for this fun and rewarding event.

 OAK BAY FILM & TELEVISION –  will be holding a short film festival on Friday, June 3rd during focus.  We are opening the festival to entries from all Oak Bay students.  Entries must be submitted to Mr. Laird by Monday, May 30th and be no longer than 5 minutes.  See Mr. Laird in 151 for details.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP – Did you know more than 400,000 children die of zinc deficiency.  An estimated 17.3% of the global population is at risk of inadequate zinc intake.Oak Bay Community Leadership is holding a “Zinc Saves” Battery drive from May 2nd. to May 20th  donation boxes will be located in the cafeteria and outside the Library.

 CAREER CENTREThere will be a very important meeting for all students who signed up for dual credit geography or psychology courses (for next year) today – in Focus in the Library.  We will provide a class list at this point of who will be getting into the courses and who will be on a waiting list.  Please bring a method of payment if you can,  as we will be completing the online portion of the Camosun College application.

 * Job Opportunity  –There is a  job opportunity starting this summer for a couple of gr. 12 students looking for work beyond this summer.  You will need to have your driver’s license.  The job would be learning how to use excavation equipment, pipe laying, reading plans, etc.   Starting wage is $15 an hour and would be full time.  Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre if you are interested in one of these positions.
