GRADE NINE SPEAK-OUT – Congratulations Grade 9 students for their hard work on the Speak-Out last Thursday. Prizes are awarded to 1st.- Peter Macbeth.  2nd. Zach Charlesworth and 3rd. Vanilia Choutou.

SENIOR GIRLS SOCCER – please dismiss the members of the Senior Girls soccer team at 2:40 today for their game at Tyndall.

GIRLS RUGBY -need to pick up their “What will I Miss”forms for Provincials in Mr. Zolbrod’s room 202

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL – would all students involved with Amnesty International and “100 Teens Who Care” please go to room 300 at the lunch bell for a yearbook photo and ANY STAFF – who has a son/daughter enrolled at Oak Bay this year,  are asked to meet with their offspring in Room 300 today at lunch. The Yearbook crew are doing a feature page for the yearbook.

EARTH WEEK – COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP – will be hosting a “Clothing Drive” this week Tuesday April 18th – April 21st.  Please bring in any clean used or new clothing to the drop off boxes around the school.  Anything helps.  WEDNESDAY- Bike to school and receive a prize. Thursday – Wear green to show your support.

YOUTH AGAINST CANCER – the club will be holding its annual “Balloon Pop” in the Plaza at lunch this Thursday April 20th.  For just $2.00 you could win some incredible prizes, gift certificates, Bluetooth speaker system, Purdy’s etc. Come out and support the Canadian Cancer society.

CAREER CENTRE The Canadian Armed Forces Recruiting Centre Detachment Victoria will be holding an information session on Thursday, April 20th at 6 PM at our Recruitment Centre located at 827 Fort Street, Victoria, BC. This will be a general information session on employment opportunities within the Canadian Armed Forces and how to join our organization. Because our new fiscal year started April 1st, majority of our occupations are now open, which makes this an excellent time to submit an application or learn more about the CAF. There will also be an opportunity to speak to a recruiter and to ask any questions you may have.

*Pearson College Seminar on Youth Leadership 2017 Registration is now open.  www.psyl.ca      Discover Yourself This Summer – July 16 to August 5th 2017 Victoria, BC.  PSYL is an intensive, interactive and experiential learning summer program that aims to strengthen the role that young people play as community and world leaders.  The semester is a unique blend of outdoor and indoor activities that develop the skills needed for participants to grow as leaders.  The program is open to students in grades 10-12.

*Youth Internship Program (15-18 years) is an opportunity to work with children and build your leadership skills over the summer.  There is a $500.00 dollar honorarium for students who successfully complete the program.  Apply by May 8, 2017 at 4pm. *The Oak Bay Tea Party Association is looking for volunteers on June 3rd and 4th.  Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre if you are interested.  These hours are acceptable for the Grad Transition 30 hour requirement.
