Thursday November 3,  2016                                                                 CAFETERIA – Gourmet Hot Dogs & Salads

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOXES- Reminder to all advisories doing the Christmas Shoeboxes that they are due Monday Nov. 14th.  The Advisory that fills the most boxes wins a Pizza lunch.  Anyone who needs volunteer hours, each shoebox is equivalent to two volunteer hours .  Please bring all packed Shoeboxes to room 304.

JUNIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL – Please allow early dismissal at 2:15 PM for members of the Junior Boys Volleyball team.   They will need to set-up the gym and have a 3:00 PM match for the Lower Island Championships.

 GRADE 9 DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT – in the big gym at lunch next Wed. Nov. 9th. Grade 9’s please sign your team up on the sign-up sheet in the office.  Genders must be equally represented and it’s free!

 OAK BAY LEADERSHIP – will be taking a group of 25 – 30 students to the Royals Hockey game on Tuesday Nov. 15th.  Tickets are $13. The sign-up sheet is in the office and the International Room 202. Canadians and International students welcome.

STRINGS STUDENTS – Oak Bay Strings rehearsal is from 3:15-4:15. All String students are participating in the concert from 7-8 pm in the gym at Lansdowne Middle School on Thursday.  Students need to arrive by 6:30 pm for tuning.  Make sure you wear all black and bring a foldable music stand. Volunteer needed to help out a homestay mom who broke her ankle.  See Mrs. Giesbrecht if you are interested.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS – The deadline to order your international t-shirt is tomorrow –Friday, Nov. 4 reminder that your order form and $15.00 are due if you want a  T-shirt.  Hand in Orders to Mr. Zolbrod, Mr. Turner or Karen Z.

THE CULTURAL CONNECTION – is hosting a “Dia de los Muertos” party tomorrow Nov. 4 in the Cafeteria at 2:30. All students are welcome,  please sign-up in room 202.

“WHERE’S NUTTY” – here is this week’s clue from Student Council – “In a room concerned with numbers,   where lollies are found a plenty,    Under a book that claims to make you rich’  Go find Nutty, that’s the ‘sitch!”

 FOOD SAFE- anyone who took the ”Foods Safe” course last year can pick up your certificate in Ms. Simpson’s room 143.

SENIOR PEER COUNSELLORS – reminder meeting today at lunch.

GRADE 9’S – Immunizations tomorrow November 4.

“OPEN MIC” – Open Mic Night auditions, held next Thurs. Nov. 10th at 3:30 in the Theatre.  Anyone can sing, dance play an instrument, do comedy or magic tricks.  Cash prize.  Sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the Black-Box.  If interested join Oak Bay High’s Open Mic night Facebook page.  Open Mic Night is on Thursday Nov. 24 @ 7:00pm.

CAREER CENTRE – Volunteer needed to help out a homestay mom who broke her ankle.  See Mrs. Giesbrecht if you are interested.

* The Canadian Armed Forces is having an information session tonight November 3rd from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at 827 Fort St.   Students will have an opportunity to discuss careers for the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Air Force.  You will also gain some insight into the military lifestyle, discuss the physical fitness test requirements, learn how to navigate the online application process and have any of your questions answered by a recruiter.
