AWARDS COMMITTEE -STAFF – will meet today- May 4th at lunch in the Career Center.  All staff  are  invited – please bring your laptop.

 JUNIOR GIRLS SOCCER – Please excuse the Junior Girls Soccer players at 2:30 (block 4) today, for their city final game.

SENIOR BARBS RUGBY – game at Centennial Stadium tomorrow (Friday) Kickoff is at 4:30.  Tickets are $2.  for students at the door. Come and cheer us on. Huddy!

ALL GRADE 12 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS –   ISP students – there is a mandatory meeting in the International room 202 tomorrow Friday May 5,  during FOCUS.

 OUTDOOR PURSUITS CLUB- tomorrow – JDF Trail all Friday – to end of Monday May 8.  BALANCING OURS MINDS CONFERENCE – Workshop today at the Q Centre with Ms. Tate and Mr. Schippers.

 Reminder: FRIDAY FOCUS AT THE TRACK – grade 9/10 PE students that want to make up their track runs, can do so during Friday Focus May 5, last one.  Find Mr.Busch on the track

Oak Bay High 4TH. ANNUAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL –    Oak Bay High Film & Television is happy to announce our 4th short film festival on Friday June 9, 2017.  You have time to work on your entries. They are open to all Oak Bay students.  Entries must be no longer than 7 minutes and can be any category/genre.  Entries must submitted by June 2.  See Mr. Laird for details.

 CAREER CENTRE-   All students who signed up for dual credit Psychology or Geography next year must attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday May 9th in the library during focus. 

Victoria Disability Resource Centre is looking for volunteers. Students will have the opportunity to work at their reception desk, do some data inputting, money handling and some filing.  These tasks offer a great deal of experience in customer service and general office duties.    Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht if you are interested.

*Operation Trackshoes –  A sports festival for citizens of BC who have a developmental disability.  Our primary need is for counsellors.  We are looking for approximately 250 volunteers to be Operation Trackshoes counsellors. An OT counsellor is assigned to one or more competitors and provides friendship and guidance in very much the same way as a camp counsellor would. We provide all the necessary training – no special skills are needed. We always have a competitor wait list so your participation will mean that at least one additional person will be able to come to OT.   http://www.trackshoes.ca/volunteers_needed.html

*Volunteer Opportunity:  Margaret Jenkins annual Spring Fair will be on Friday June 2 from 5-8 pm.  They are looking for  volunteers to be available from approximately 4:30-8:30 to allow for organizing and clean up.  The Fair happens on their school field (corner of Foul Bay and Fairfield).  We are looking for help with various carnival games, cupcake walk, face painting, etc.   Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht to sign up.

*Volunteer Opportunity: The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada Walk this year will be right here in Oak Bay at Willows Beach from 12:30 to 4 pm. on May 28th.    Please go to the Career Centre to see what’s available and to sign up.

*Grade 11 students are invited to apply to a Victoria Police Department Secondary Springboard.  There are 16 seats available for our school district students to take part in the policing world through interactive demonstrations and scenario-based simulations.  This will take place on May 9th from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm at the Victoria Police Dept. 850 Caledonia Ave.  Applications are to be handed in to Mrs. Giesbrecht by May 3rd.  If you are interested please pick up an application in the Career Centre or click https://oakbay.sd61.bc.ca/student-info/career-center/

 *The Oak Bay Tea Party Association is looking for volunteers on June 3rd and 4th.  Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre if you are interested.  These hours are acceptable for the Grad Transition 30 hour requirement.
