Photo Day – Tuesday, September 14th
Grade 12’s – the first Scholarship Prep class will be on Wednesday after school in the theatre! All grade 12’s welcome, even if you didn’t sign up for the class. Come check it out and start thinking about life after Oak Bay.
All grade 12 students interested in running for student council president please attend a brief meeting WEDNESDAY at lunch in room 145.
All students registered or waitlisted in strength training 11 or 12, there will be an important meeting TODAY at lunch in the big gym.
Anyone wanting to be involved in the Senior Musical Theatre production of “The Little Mermaid” please come to a short meeting Wednesday after school in the Theatre.
There is an informational meeting in the big gym on TUESDAY, September 14th for any girls interested in playing basketball at OBH this year.

Reminder that TODAY is the last day to sign up for development field hockey in the office. Field hockey experience and equipment is not necessary, but always welcome. The first practice is tomorrow morning at 7:00am at the Oak Bay Turf.
Swim season is right around the corner! Our first practice is at Oak Bay Rec Centre this Tuesday. Come outside the small gym at the beginning of lunch TODAY.
Starting this week, there will be mandatory orientation meetings for those students taking Career Life Education On-Line here at Oak Bay. All meetings will take place in Room 304 at the beginning of lunch.

Orange Shirt Day is Coming.
If you like an orange shirt, order them here. Please order before September 25th. I will bring them to school on September 27th. You can pick them up in 309. The cost is $25. (Please pay for them when you pick them up.) All monies go toward bringing awareness to residential school survivors. Orange Shirt Day Slide Deck and a Message from Eddie Charlie. (Many people do not know this, but Eddie’s perseverance played a large role in making Sept.30th a federal holiday. He is a remarkable human being.
Oak Bay will once again be holding a Student Vote to run alongside Federal Election. It is a real way to prepare students for their democratic rights and responsibility. Our voting day will be Friday, Sept 17 from 9:05 – 2pm. All teachers are asked to bring down their classes in blocks A or B, and students with spares can come when things quieten down. We want a massive turnout (unlike the real political realm) and our results will be forwarded to the CBC who broadcasts on Election Night (Sept. 20). It is always interesting to see how student opinions differ from the general electorate.

Pender Island Firefighter Camp will take place March 21-26, 2022. The applications are due into Ms. Giesbrecht by Sept 22nd. If you are in grade 11 or 12 and interested, pick up an application in the Career Centre. Go to the website for more information but NOTE: the deadlines are not correct. The application is due on Sept 22nd no later. http://www.cadetcamp.ca/#home If you apply using the application form on the website you must let Ms. Giesbrecht so the district can keep track of who has applied.
- The Medical Certificate of Fitness that needs to be filled in by a physician can be collected at a later time, at some point prior to interviews.
- The $200 deposit can also been collected at a later date once applicants know they have been accepted.
AMP Math Program: Are you interested in completing your math 2 math classes this year? Or are you interested in completed one math class outside of the timetable? Come see tspray in 309 .
