Oak Bay grad Robert Lee is organizing a tech/entrepreneurship/general-interest lecture on-campus at UVic Friday, November 1st. He is bringing the three authors of Amazon bestseller Swipe to Unlock who are also Project Managers at Microsoft, Google, and Facebook to UVic to give a presentation on the fusion of technology and business strategy.  If you are interested in business, entrepreneurship, and/or tech register to attend at bit.ly/uvicPMpanel   Space is limited at this point, and anyone interested must register online.

The Barbs Rugby Team wants to see if there is interest for a tour next spring break (Spring 2021). We have a meeting for parents and players TOMORROW at 5:30 in room 231 (Mr. Atkinson’s room).​

 Congratulations to the Sr. Boys Volleyball team for their second-place finish at the Thompson Rivers University tournament in Kamloops this weekend.  Big wins over Claremont 2-0 in the quarter-final, and then a come-from behind 15-13 win in the third set over AA #3 George Elliott in the semi-final.  Only loss was to AAA #2 Kelowna.  The Barbers will move up to #3 in the provincial rankings this week.  Catch them in action Nov 1 and 2 in our own gym as they host the Georgia Strait Challenge, starting off vs Mark Isfeld right after school on Friday.

 Fire Camp for teens (15-18 yrs.) from March 16 – 21, 2020.  This is a great opportunity for our students who are considering firefighting as a career.   Information and applications can be found at either www.metchosinfire.ca or www.sooke.ca .   ALL APPLICATION’S ARE DUE INTO MRS. GIESBRECHT BY 4:00 PM DECEMBER 18, 2019.  The physical exam does not need to be completed until the student is shortlisted but if you can get one easily and with no charge it would be best to get it done early.  The $200 fee does not have to be paid until the student has been offered a seat in the program.  There are 20 seats available and not all applications will receive interviews.
