This week, Thursday, October 26th the Halloween Dance will take place!  Tickets will be for sale this week for $15 outside the Cafeteria at lunch from Monday to Thursday.  Make sure you come down some time this week before they sell out!

There will be a Vital Youth Club meeting tomorrow at lunch at noon in room 304. New members are welcome. Come get involved in researching critical issues in our community and engaging in philanthropy.

Congratulations to our singers who rehearsed and performed with the provincial honour choir in Vancouver last week.  You made Oak Bay  High proud with your phenomenal concerts!

A big congratulations to the Swim Team this year who had a fantastic Island Regional Meet on Sunday! 18 swimmers qualified for Provincials, with several top 5 finishes in relays. A special congratulations to three swimmers who qualified with top 5 finishes individually: Alex Ninaber in 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, McKechnie Bishop-Nicol in 50 breaststroke and 100m IM, and Nabhan in breaststroke. 

UVIC AND CAMOSUN POST-SECONDARY INFORMATION EVEING  – OCT. 24TH  IN THE OAK BAY THEATRE

A shout out to members of the Honour Concert Choir  (Madeleine Bartle-Clar, Shelly Ben Dor, McKechnie Bishop-Nicol, Evie Faber, Evelyn Gillett, Isabelle Liang, and Cora Neil) and Honour Vocal Jazz  (Dominic Bartle-Clar, Sadie Clark, Makaio McKnight and Stella White).  Henry Baker was featured on trumpet in Honour Jazz Band.

Gwaii Engineering is an Indigenous Civil and Environmental Engineering firm who would like to offer day-long shadow opportunities to SD61 students. Virtual opportunity created by the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at BC Children’s Hospital and UBC:
Women In Orthopaedics (WORTH)– Virtual Workshop on Saturday, October 28th, from 9 am to 12 pm PT.
This workshop is open to all young women in high schools (grades 10-12), including women-identifying individuals and non-binary and gender non-conforming students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and engineering, specifically in orthopaedics. We aim to provide more insight and clarity on careers particularly in the areas of orthopaedics and engineering.

Have you ever thought of becoming a pilot or working in the aviation industry?  Greater Victoria School District & Mt. Join UBCO in our theatre on Nov. 2nd from 6:30 to 7:30pm. United World Colleges: HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS UNITING THE WORLD FOR OUR PLANET AND OUR FUTURE – EDUCATION FOR PEACE AND SUSTAINABILITY
UWC is a global network of 18 international schools located on four continents (including Pearson College UWC, located in BC, Canada). Volunteer with Victor School Peer Program – they are looking for grades 10=12 students interested in creating meaningful relationships with neurodivergent peers and the adults that support them.  This may involve, playing sports or games, reading, creating art and crafts and early literacy and numeracy tasks with students. Your commitment will be one semester for 2-8 hours monthly.  The hours available are 8:30-10:00am, 10:30-12:00 and 1:00-2:00 any day of the week.  To get involved please email Mr. Alexander at salexander@sd61.bc.ca  or Ms. Giesbrecht at sgiesbrecht@sd61.bc.ca
