Connect to Care is hosting a bake sale at lunch on November 15th, all proceeds will be donated to the BCSPCA.

Skiers & Snowboarders!  Oak Bay High Ski & Snowboard team will be having its first meeting on Wednesday, November 9th at lunch in the Small Gym.

Youth Centre will now be open after school on Tuesdays instead of Mondays for the month of November.  

Grade 9 students, if you have not picked up your immunization forms, please come to the office as soon as possible to pick up.

If you are thinking of a gap year after high school come and learn about the opportunities they offer.

Previous Announcements

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the Oak Bay Cross Country team who competed in their provincial championships at Royal Roads University this weekend. All teams finished in the top ten with many athletes placing in the top 30 overall in BC!! The Senior Boys team placed 5th overall with Tyler Browne winning the race in a very exciting finish!! The Senior Girls finished 6th with Izzy Joiner placing 28thoverall, and the Junior Girls team finished 7thoverall with Sara Campbell finishing in 19thoverall.  Our Junior Boys team finished in1st bringing home the banner to Oak Bay, with Charli Mlotshwa taking first place by a dominant lead, and Will Powell finishing in 14th. WELL DONE OAK BAY!!!!!

Rowing is back at Oak Bay! The rowing Team had phenomenal results at the City Championships:
First Place in the Novice Eight
Third Place in the Open Eight
Second Place in the Novice Quad
Third Place in the Open Quad
We also had several top 10 finishes. Congratulations to all our rowers.

Guelph University Upcoming Virtual Information Sessions
Guelph is hosting two virtual information sessions for prospective students this fall students may be interested in attending. Details are as follows:
What: Grade 12 Information Sessions
Where: students are encouraged to register in advance here
When: Wednesday November 9 & Thursday December 1 – both dates from 5-8pm EDT (2-5pm PST)
Format: We are offering six 30-minute information sessions. The event is free to attend.
Students who pre-register will receive a reminder email with link to join the event and will have the option to select which session they’d like to attend on the day (i.e., they’re not registering for a specific session in advance). 

EducationUSA Canada Virtual Showcase – Southern USA
In November, EducationUSA has a real TREAT for you! We have our second virtual Showcase event highlighting the South region. This event includes booths with 20 U.S. universities and colleges from the southern United States and webinars with TRICKS to improve your application! Have you thought about becoming a Police Officer?
Police Camp is back!  It will take place the first week of Spring Break (March 18th to 25th) and is open to grade 10, 11 and 12.  Police Camp is a unique youth leadership program providing high school students the opportunity to grow their personal and team leadership skills through a policing, public safety, and public service lens. Over eight days, students will be involved in classroom lectures discussing a wide variety of topics, be led through challenging daily physical training and activity, participate in day and night simulations, practice drill instruction, learn social responsibility and life skills, and much more. As students build self-confidence and interpersonal relations with their peers in a team-based environment, they will also build long-term connections with members of our police services. Volunteering Opportunities

The Volunteer Coordinator for Baptist Housing is looking for volunteers who would like to volunteer regularly though the year.  Baptist Housing operates Shannon Oaks an independent living seniors home (just opposite Save on Foods), and Marion Village an Assisted Living/Independent Living community opposite Oak Bay Rec Center.   Students would help with activities, or with technology assistance.  They are also looking for performance level musicians.  Would you like to Volunteer with Baptist Housing?
