Scholarship Application Workshop – Grads of 2017 and Parents, Please join Mr. Alexander tonight-Monday, January 16th. from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Theatre for the  Scholarships Application workshop. It is the post secondary and scholarship application season, so please bring all your questions!

Senior Girls Soccer – Tryouts are on the turf immediately after school tomorrow- Tuesday and Thursday this week for any interested players.

POLE VAULT CLINIC – tomorrow –Tuesday Jan.17th.  & Thursday Jan. 19th. 6:30 – 8:00pm in the Small Gym.

 MATHCHALLENGERS –  All grade 9 students who are interested in taking part in the MathChallengers competition next month must write a pretest in order for a team of 5, plus alternates, for the competition.     The pretest will take place in room 307 tomorrow- Tuesday, Jan. 17th at lunch. If you have any questions, please see your Math teacher or Mr. Carter in 307 before tomorrow.   There will be only be one seating for that pretest!!”

OPERA FANS – the Magic Flute by Mozart is playing at the Royal Theatre on Tuesday February 14th. at  7:00 pm. Tickets for students are $15.   Students interested should see Manjit after school room 213.

EVENING OF DANCE – Evening of Dance Tickets are on sale now!  Shows are from 7-10pm on Tue. Jan 24, Wed. Jan 25 and Thurs. Jan 26.  Tickets are being sold at the accounts office (to the right of the main office), during school hours. Get your tickets early as shows do sell out!​ Students/Seniors $8, Adults $1

Duke of Edinburgh Program Information Session – Are you interested in learning more about the Duke of Edinburgh Program? If so, join us for an informational session on Monday, January 23rd at 7:25 am in the cafete-ria. Come and learn about this amazing opportunity! HANDBALL TOURNAMENT – Big gym next – Mon,Tues, & Wed, January 23, 24,&25.  Sign-up sheet is in the office. Winners receive a pizza lunch. Each team must have a girl on the court at all times.

 2017 YEARBOOK  Grad Write ups: Grade 12’s please submit your grad write up by Tuesday, January 31st.  for the 2017 Oak Bay Yearbook. The write up must be a maximum of 100 words.  Go to bit.ly/gradwriteup2017​ to submit your entry.  Your write up may include anything you would like, a quote, well-wishes, memories, etc. The write up must be a maximum of 60 words, or will need to be edited by yearbook staff. SENIOR DRAMA PROGRAM –presents – Guilty? a modern adaptation of “12 Angry Men” performance – next Thursday January 19th curtain up at 7 pm $5. adults, $2. Student/Seniors.

 CAREER CENTRE  – Junior Volunteer Program for BC SPCA – Students between the ages of 16 and 18 can apply to volunteer at the SPCA in their new junior program.  There are three positions available.  One is an Adoption Centre Host and the other two are Bio-Security and Kennel Crew positions.  The application for volunteering from Feb – June has to be in by Jan. 20 Please come and see Mrs. Giesbrecht for a copy of the application.

*The University of Victoria is hosting its Annual Mental Health Awareness Event this Wed. January 18, 2017 from 4:30pm-6:30pm in Bob Wright Centre B150.  This free event features keynote speaker Kevin Breel, a comedian and mental health activist with over 4 million views on his viral TED talk; a community update on the various mental health initiatives happening on campus; and a special story-telling performance by UVic students.
