We took the Ultimate Frisbee team to the Senior Provincial Invitational on the weekend and they performed very well against some very experienced and skilled lower mainland teams.
We went 2-1 on Saturday losing to top ranked Kitsilano 13-9 (after being way behind).
In our Sunday pooling we won our quarter against Earl Marriot 13-5 and then we were all encouraged as Mr. Cristante (our sponsor teacher) came to watch our semi-final against Burnaby Mountain.   The kids battled hard and it was a 1 point game at half and we end up winning 12-10 in a time cap.
Our final was against an undefeated AR MacNeil team from Richmond who had won their quarter 13-1 and their semi 13-3.   AR MacNeil went up early 5-2 but we managed to battle back to tie it 10-10 after some very long points and very good spirited play from both sides.  AR MacNeil had a 6″4″ grade 12 student who ended up getting the game winning  defensive block and they won 11-10 and took home the banner.
Given that we only had 1 grade 12 student (Jasmine Lambert), our team did extremely well and everyone is keeping their heads held high.
Jasmine, by the way, was awarded the female MVP award for all 6 of our games and was an excellent co-captain and leader all season long.
We are hoping to have one last game this Friday at 3:30 versus GlenLyon Norfolk.
Thanks SO much to all three of you for all of your support and assistance and we hope to start practising a little earlier next year.

Would the following students please come to the office for a message:

  • Sydney Muir
  • Henry Down
  • Katie Muirhead
  • Ewan McKenzie
  • Alex Gonin
