UNB (University of New Brunswick) is hosting a Grade 11 presentation is next Thursday, May 20th at 7:30 pm ADT. During these 30 minute events, we will cover new terminology that pertains to post-secondary education, UNB’s programs, how students can prepare their application, and what their next steps will be in grade 12. Interact Club is doing a menstruation drive! Bring any unopened menstruation products and drop the in the box outside the office.
The Link Summer School Session this year is from June 28 – July 28. It will be delivered in a “guided asynchronous” format. This means that you can work on your own time. Plan to dedicate 20 hours per week per course. In person support will be offered twice a week by your teacher. Emily Carr University Summer Institute for Teens will be facilitated online this year, making it easier for students to participate in this exciting pre-university program.
Summer Institute for Teens (SIT)
July 5-30, 2021
Ages: 16-18, or have completed Grade 10 by July 2021
Featuring small classes taught by professional, practicing artists and designers, the Summer Institute for Teens prepares students for the next step in their creative careers. Students spend four weeks engaged in intensive studio practice, where they develop a range of technical and creative skills, and create new work for their portfolios. Students have a choice of 10 online studios in a range of disciplines in the fields of visual arts, media and design. No previous experience in the subject area is required. By the end of the program, students will have broadened their understanding of art + design, created exciting new works and participated in an online exhibition with their peers. We are hosting a virtual info session on Thursday, May 20th at 5 pm (PDT, GMT -7), where we will share all the details about our summer programs for youth. SOAR is a social enterprise based out of Toronto with a mission of fostering a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship in 21st-century learners through school and community programs. The SOAR Summer Innovation Camp is an interactive virtual program designed to immerse students entering Grades 7-12 in the world of entrepreneurship and innovation through project-based learning challenges. Camp participants will have the opportunity to engage in live workshops, take part in design challenges, learn from diverse entrepreneur guest speakers/mentors, and collaborate with like minded peers to create their own ventures. This year’s camp program will be offered in two 4-week sessions for students (July 5th-30th; August 3rd-27th). Further information about this year’s program is available at soaredu.ca/soar-summer-programs. Although there is a fee involved in the camp, we have financial assistance options to ensure greater equity for all interested in participating.

Many of the Ontario universities have recently moved to amalgamate the transcript process through the OUAC.
You will find the OUAC listed on the STS now instead of those individual universities.
*You will need to reauthorize the OUAC through the STS so your university will get your current midterm and final grades*

U of Toronto is hosting a series of virtual events specifically for younger students (grades 10 & 10) after school or in the evening so that parents and families can attend as well if they would like.
The three sessions will have the same content but I wanted to provide a few different options to allow for different schedules and I would appreciate if you could share them with your students:

In addition to this support for younger students my colleagues across all three campuses are running sessions for current applicants and have even begun some transition workshops for newly admitted students. Mount St. Mary Hospital provides complex long term care to 200 residents in downtown Victoria.
The Social Visits Greeter adds to the quality of life of people who live at Mount St. Mary Hospital. In keeping with the COVID-19 Orders of the Provincial Health Officer the Social Greeter’s primary role is greeting and engaging with visitors and others entering the building to ensure their attendance at the site is essential and/or scheduled. Supports the safety of residents, by screening visitors, and communicating information and directions. Assists residents leaving for outings.
