Congratulations to the Oak Bay High School Ski & Board Team for a strong performance at the Provincial Championships at Sun Peaks in Kamloops. Official results are in. With over 400 athletes competing, we were excited to have three individuals make the top 10: Calum Parker (4th in boys snowboard), Dallas Batty (7th in girls snowboard), and Yoyo Deng (6th in boys ski). Oak Bay finished 5th overall in combined snowboarding, and 10th in combined skiing. Well done athletes!

Congratulations to the Oak Bay High School’s Ski & Board Team for a successful competition at the Provincial Championships in Sun Peaks last week. Oak Bay sent a full roster of athletes in all four categories and was proud to see strong finishes both in the combined and individual results. With over 20 schools competing, Oak Bay’s coaches were very pleased.

Oak Bay was thrilled to see three individuals finish in the top 10 in their events: Dallas Batty finishing 7th in girls’ snowboard event; Calum Parker finishing 4th in boys snowboard; and Yoyo Deng finishing 6th in boys skiing. With over 400 athletes between the four categories, this year’s Provincial Championships were more competitive than ever, and it is exciting to see the sport grow in popularity and the competition intensify. We were also excited to see more teams from Vancouver Island at the Championships, including Nanaimo Christian School, Ballenas Secondary, GP Vanier, Isfeld, and a neighbouring Victoria school – Reynolds Secondary – has rejoined after not having having a team for several years.
Are you learning English and looking for a fun way to practice your English? Then come and try the ESL Buddies Games Club at lunch today in the Library. Every Monday students learning English are welcome to join this fun, free club. If you want more information, see Ms. Brereton in Room 120.
Practical Nursing is the diploma nursing program and at the end of the 20-month program, students are prepared to become Licensed Practical Nurses.

Volunteering Opportunities
The Greater Victoria Green Team needs your help! We are working with the University of Victoria’s Campus Planning & Sustainability Department to bring an inclusive community engagement activity to UVic campus (Sedgewick building) on Sunday March 17th! From 9:45am-1pm on Sunday March 17th we will be removing invasive plants like English ivy from the forest on campus to help increase biodiversity and make the area more resilient and functional for wildlife! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! ALL AGES, backgrounds and abilities are invited. Gloves, tools, snacks, educational instruction and a small thank you gift will be provided. Come for as long or as little as you’re able to. Join us for a fun day, RAIN OR SHINE! We will have warm drinks to sip on if it’s cold! Pedalheads is hiring instructors and looking for volunteers for Spring Break. To qualify as a Bike Instructor, students need to be at a minimum 16 years old by their first day of work. We also have opportunities for younger students to volunteer during these weeks! Students must be 13 years old by their first day of work in order to be a volunteer.
