The Island Medical Program (IMP) delivers the UBC MD Undergraduate Program in partnership with the University of Victoria and Island Health.
Learn about the MD program, the admissions process, and what it takes to become a doctor.

Secondary Springboard Victoria Police Department
On Tuesday, April 10th, SD61 is partnering with The Victoria Police Department to allow 16 of our students to explore and experience Policing through hands-on, scenario-based activities, demonstrations, and discussions with Victoria Police Department members:
Grade 11 & 12 students are welcome to apply to participate.

 The Young Engineers and Scientists (YES!) Fellowship  offers six-week summer research experiences  to graduating secondary students in British Columbia entering their first year at a recognized post-secondary institution. The Fellowship includes an award of $3,000. The intent of the YES Fellowship is to motivate graduating students with a passionate interest in science to pursue a research career by offering them the opportunity to experience a real life research environment.
This year the positions are limited to students who do not require travel or housing allowances.  These students will have taken one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics 12, and are interested in pursuing a degree in the life sciences.

Camosun College has a Trades Exploration program (TEAC105) which embraces learning about Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science Technology. The program is very useful to help students determine which discipline they may want to consider after high school.  Applications are now open for September 2018.  If you are interested in applying please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre.

Islands Youth Parliament – IYP is a chance for 14 – 18-year-olds from Vancouver Island, Powell River, and the Gulf Islands to come together over the weekend of March 9 – 11 to learn parliamentary procedure, debate, write legislation and discuss the issues most important to them.  https://oakbaycareercentre.weebly.com/whats-going-on

NAV CANADA’s Explore Aviation Summer Camp
Are you a girl who has what it takes to leave ordinary behind? If you do, then NAV CANADA’s Explore Aviation Summer Camp is made for you!
This summer, 20 girls entering Grade 10 high school from across Canada will gather in Cornwall, Ontario. Their mission: one week of learning, fun and friendship with a focus on aviation. This all-expenses-paid camp uses hands-on learning to give you the chance to explore exciting careers that will empower you to soar to success after graduation!
Who can apply:     ​​Girls going into Grade 10 in September 2018
Where: ​ NAV CENTRE, Cornwall, ON, with day trips to Montreal and Ottawa

Marine TASK Spring & Summer Program
South Island Partnership (SIP) would like to offer a new and exciting program to our secondary students: Marine TASK.  This program centers on several trades through a marine lens.  Four safety certifications will also be achieved through the program.  Below, you will see that this has two parts:
an online course (TACC 109 – Trades Access Common Core) from April to June face to face, hands on instruction at Camosun Interurban in July and August.

YOUTH GET IT INTERNS AT COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS
Opportunities for students entering Grade 11 and 12 in September 2018 to be paid members of our Youth Get It Interns. They work as community ambassadors and as Member Service Representatives helping our members in our branches.  Being a Youth Get It Intern is a job that requires professionalism and a friendly and helpful attitude. Students will gain skills like leadership, community relations and financial literacy that prepare them for their future endeavours.
Responsibilities
Represent Coast Capital Savings at community events
Work part-time after school or on weekends during the school year
Work full-time in the summer, 5 days per week
Work as a Member Service Representative helping our members in one of our branches
Complete 25 volunteer hours focusing on teaching financial literacy
Take part in a team building camp
