Reminder to all Grade 12s that your 30 hours of work/volunteer experience is due on April 1st, so get your forms in asap.

Congratulations to the Winners of the 2020 2021 “Open” Photo contest. Over 70 submissions were received. These were narrowed down to the top 10 which were printed and are currently on display near the Art Room. Final judging took place before the spring break and the winners are:
– 1st place  – Steven Yu
– 2nd place – Emma Lehmann
– 3rd place  – Sam Johns
Please see Mr. Worsley to receive your prize.

All of the final 10 finalists received many votes for their photos and considerable praise from staff and students. Very Well Done!!

Golfers…time to sign up for what we hope will be a golf season for high schools. There will be a meeting this Thursday at lunch in room 307. Please be there as promptly as possible.

If you signed up for the Gr.12 Euclid Waterloo Math Contest, it is being written on WED.APRIL 7 from 9am to 10:30am with Mrs. Smith in Rm 308.  Please bring a non-programmable calculator, ruler, pencils, eraser and graph paper.  Scrap paper and treats will be provided!  To prepare for the contest, do as many past contests this week as you can!  Here is the link:  https://www.cemc.uwaterloo.ca/contests/past_contests.html.

So, you’re writing the NUMERACY exam in April?  If so and you’d like to know more about it, read the Google Doc in this e-announcement:

Calling all artists!  Design any sort of poster or artwork with the central theme of LGBTQTS+ Pride.  Any medium is allowed as long as it can be displayed on the wall.  One lucky artist from each grade will be drawn to win $50 each, so make sure to include your name, grade and contact info on the back of your artwork.  Hand your submission in to room 146 by Thursday, April 1st.

Mighty Oaks is a way to acknowledge especially extraordinary staff and students. Each week student council will select a name from those submitted and show why they make Oak Bay a better place. FREE SAT Boot Camp
The EducationUSA SAT Boot Camp is a five-session intensive for Canadian students who are preparing to take the SAT exam (ideally in Grades 10 or 11). These sessions are free of charge.
REGISTER HERE for the April SAT Boot Camp, April 12-16, 2021, 1 pm ET
– Session 1 (4 hours): Full-length Practice Test – this will be a live, proctored practice test
– Session 2 (2 hours): The SAT in admissions – general information about the SAT, registration, and time management tips
– Session 3 (2 hours): Reading Comprehension strategies
– Session 4 (2 hours): Math and Writing strategies
– Session 5 (3.5 hours): Full-length Practice Test – another practice test and a chance to practice your new skills!
It is best to attend all sessions, but it is okay to just come to the ones that you can. All sessions will be recorded, in case you are unable to make it. All registered attendees will receive a recording via email after the event.

The Oak Bay High Library and English department have a book club contest for you! Check out a book on our contest list, read it then bring it back and ask for an entry form. Lots of prizes to be won! The more you read the more chances to win. Ask for more details at the library. Contest runs till June

Theatre SKAM is a Victoria, BC company, that has produced theatre in Victoria, nationally and internationally for 26 years. If you love theatre, love having fun, and want to use your skills to create memorable theatre experiences for the Victoria community, we’d love to hear from you! Positions vary, and include co-producer, camp counsellor, marketing assistant and stage manager. This is all through the Canada Summer Jobs grant, positions dependent on funding.

These positions run for varying durations: from 8 – 18 weeks starting and ending between May 3rd to September 10th, depending on the position. Successful applicants often return to work for SKAM on future projects. Hourly wages range from $16/hour to $20/hour depending on the position.

To be eligible, all applicants must be youth who meet these criteria:
-be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
-be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
-have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
