You have until End of day Tomorrow Friday the 17th to pick up any of last year’s work that you want. Whatever remains, will be recycled next week. Photography students, that includes work that was on the display boards.

Connect 2 Care is hosting another Boardgame Cafe Evening this Friday June 17th after school from 3:30-5:30 in the cafeteria! There will be snacks, drinks and pizza! Entry by donation! Grade 9 and 10’s – Here is the perfect opportunity for you to get your foot in the door and gain the skills to become a Youth Camp Leader in the future. Crystal Pool is excited to be running the Youth Leaders in Training Program (YLIT) again in 2022.  The leadership training at YLIT has a focus on recreation leadership skills as well as public speaking, teamwork, communication and many other important life skills geared towards 14-18 year old’s. The program consists of 1 week of leadership training at Crystal Pool, 4 weeks of placements in a summer camp in the City of Victoria, and various team building out-trips.  Applications are due by June 24 (application form required, resume is a bonus).  Here is a link to fill out the application online: https://forms.office.com/r/1jmbyEYiU7   Feel free to contact Kyle Clancy at ylit.vic@gmail.com if you have any questions or require more information.

The John Howard Society runs FREE employment readiness programs in Victoria for people between the ages of 16 and 30.  The FREE program runs throughout the summer months. The program is perfect for a student that wants a job but needs to gain training and skills. It is a great opportunity for those with little experience in the workforce to build up their resumes and connect with employers. We have our next Wellness Employment Skills and Training /Bladerunner program starting July 4th, 2022.

In addition to three weeks of full-time training to get employment ready, the program includes several FREE certifications in construction or hospitality, daily meals, bus tickets, opportunity for work experience, a completion bonus and ongoing job coach support!

Cooking and Knife Skill Basics with the London Chef
Intro to Barista Training
Emergency First Aid and CPR
WHMIS
Intro to Forklift Training

The Construction Foundation of BC is hosting Electrical Gateways (Workshops) for any interested graduating students over the summer.  Please phone Jenny Nadeau at C: 250-532-1002 or  O: 250-220-5861  and she will help arrange everything for you. Are you interested in applying to volunteer at the hospital?  Good news!  The popular Step Up Youth Program for the 2022-23 school year is slated to begin again this coming fall.  Applications are now open! The Step Up Youth volunteer program is designed to support youth who are interested in learning about a career in healthcare.
Priority will be given to youth who participated in our virtual program, and we are recruiting for a limited number of volunteer positions for the following Island Health Facilities:
Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Saanichton
Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria
The Summit (Long-Term Care), Victoria
Applicant Info:
The program is for youth 15-18 years of age (no exceptions currently for those younger than 15. Applicants must turn 15 prior to the start of the program);
Commitment is generally one (2hour shift) once a week after school for the duration of the school year (September to April);
Volunteer duties vary based on location and each facility’s needs.

Do you ride BC Transit? Seniors Serving Seniors is looking for volunteers to assist seniors in becoming familiar with public transportation.
