Any students who applied for Live Different, please meet in room 206 at lunch TODAY.  It will be a short meeting.

All grade 9 students wishing to try out for the MathChallengers team must be in room 307 today at lunch. Bring a pencil and calculator and your lunch. This will be the only chance to do the pretest.

On Monday, Feb 4th Mrs. Yarr will be teaching FoodSafe in Bk’s A, C, D, E, F, and G.  Anyone who has a spare and wishes to get FoodSafe Certification can attend classes in any one of these blocks. Please see Mrs. Yarr in Rm 142 for details.

There will be a meeting for all students interested in playing GIRLS RUGBY this season on TTODAY in room 302 at lunch.

Lunar New Year celebrations, February 4th from 5:00-8:00pm.  We will be making dinner in the foods room at no cost.  On February 5th the celebration continues  in the Cafeteria at lunch with games and food.  Come and join us.  Please sign up outside room 202 as soon as possible.

Reminder to students who picked up applications for the upcoming Springboards put on by our district that they are due into Mrs. Giesbrecht by the following dates.
Aviation applications are due Feb. 6th
Women in Trades and Technology applications are due Feb. 8th

All Math 10 students wanting to try out for the school’s MathChallengers grade 10 team, your pretest will take place next Tuesday (Feb. 5th) at lunch in room 307…same info as above for Math 9’s.
As previously mentioned, there will be only one seating for these pretests, so add the appropriate date to your calendar.
The contest takes place on Feb. 22 at Camosun College Interurban campus and requires all of that Friday afternoon, so pink release forms will be needed, as well as rides to and from the campus that day.

The Interact Club is selling hockey tickets for the Saanich Junior Braves game taking place on Friday, February 15th at 6:30pm at Pearkes Arena.  Tickets are only $5.00 and all the proceeds go to Soap for Hope.  Tickets can be bought in the school office.  If you have any questions please email leahs7521@sdlearn.ca.

Are you interested in becoming a pilot?  Viking Air and the Greater Victoria School District are having an exploration day on Friday February 15th (pro d day) from 9:00am-1:30pm.  Students will explore the world of aviation at Viking Air through interactive and hands-on activities.  If you are interested in applying please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre.  Applications are due to Ms. Giesbrecht by February 6th.

University of King’s College – Halifax will host an information evening on Tuesday, February 5th from 7-8pm (doors open at 6:30) at Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, Cowichan Room.  Attendees can apply to King’s for free (save $65!) Women In Trades & Technology – Oak Bay is able to send four girls (grades 9 – 12) to take part in a trades and technology day at Camosun College Interurban Campus on Wednesday Feb. 20th from 9:30am to 2:15pm.  Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht if you would like more information or to apply.  The four seats reserved for Oak Bay will be filled on a first come first serve basis.   Don’t delay!

Cst Perry has set up a questions/concerns box at the table in the counsellor center. Please feel free to forward any questions/concerns to Cst Perry in this manner or email her at sperry@oakbaypolice.org . Starting in November Cst Perry will be posting her office time at OB High through the morning announcements. She encourages everyone to come by to see her about any questions they may have or just even to chat.

Volunteering

Tsukino-Con 2019 Volunteer Opportunity – Tsukino-Con is a non-profit organization that hosts an annual anime, games, and Japanese culture convention on campus. We support a variety of charities including Child’s Play, the BC SPCA, as well as the Mustard Seed and UVIC Food Bank.
