Previous Announcements

The Oak Bay Ski and Board Team has made themselves the team to beat among Vancouver Island schools, scoring top points as a team in all four disciplines on Monday at Mt Washington. In three out of four disciplines, Oak Bay had the fastest skier or boarder on the race course.
In girls skiing, Oak Bay took the top 2 spots on the podium with Captain Bee Morrison racing to a first-place finish and teammate Mya Johnston-Stewart in second place. The girls ski team scored the maximum possible number of team points, winning gold. In the boys’ ski event, Oak Bay took the entire podium, with Gavin Bayley skiing to the bottom with the fastest time of the day. Captain Julian Gauld and grade 11 Jonathan Hart came second and third respectively.  Incredibly fast race scores led the boys to a gold, scoring the maximum number of team points and beating five other Island schools.
In snowboarding, Oak Bay girls had six riders in the top 10, leading the team to score first place in points out of three schools. They also had one podium finish with grade 10 Dallas Batty taking home third place. On the boys’ side, the small but mighty team of boarders filled four out of the top five positions, with Captain Alex Joiner in the lead and Kiyoshi McMillan hot on his heels. The boys earned the maximum number of team points.  This was Oak Bay’s fourth 1st place finish.
This historic first race in the Island Race Series is the first time the Oak Bay Ski and Board Team has ever swept the leaderboard in all four categories, setting themselves up for a strong season ahead. With two more Island races to go, Oak Bay hopes to continue with their success and send a large squad to the Provincial Championships in Sun Peaks at the end of February.
