The Environmental Science 11 class will be meeting at the Compost Education Centre on Thursday morning at 9:25. The address is 1216 North Park Road.

Candy grams for sale!!  You can buy a candy gram for a quarter from Wednesday to Friday at the social stairs.  Buy some for your loved ones and best friends.  They will be delivered during Advisory on Monday.

Girls rugby practices start on Monday, February 11th & Thursday, February 14th after school.

Would all students with siblings in the school who would like to be featured in the yearbook, please meet in room 300 TODAY at lunch for photos.

School Musical “Mary Poppins” – Tickets can be purchased at the school, online here, or Ivy’s Bookstore.

Grade 10 breakfast will be on TOMORROW at 8:25 in the Cafeteria.

Graduation Ceremony and Dinner Dance costs and Ceremony tickets can all be paid online through School Cash Online or alternatively you can bring cash or cheque to the office with your form.
Please remember ALL Graduation Ceremony Tickets Requests Forms MUST BE RETURNED to the OFFICE.

Oak Bay Tennis Team:  The first try out will be TOMORROW at 7am.  All skill levels welcome.

Previous Announcements

The Interact Club is selling hockey tickets for the Saanich Junior Braves game taking place on Friday, February 15th at 6:30pm at Pearkes Arena.  Tickets are only $5.00 and all the proceeds go to Soap for Hope.  Tickets can be bought in the school office.  If you have any questions please email leahs7521@sdlearn.ca

Are you interested in becoming a pilot?  Viking Air and the Greater Victoria School District are having an exploration day on Friday February 15th (pro d day) from 9:00am-1:30pm.  Students will explore the world of aviation at Viking Air through interactive and hands-on activities.  If you are interested in applying please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre.  Applications are due to Ms. Giesbrecht by February 6th.

University of King’s College – Halifax will host an information evening on Tuesday, February 5th from 7-8pm (doors open at 6:30) at Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, Cowichan Room.  Attendees can apply to King’s for free (save $65!) Women In Trades & Technology – Oak Bay is able to send four girls (grades 9 – 12) to take part in a trades and technology day at Camosun College Interurban Campus on Wednesday Feb. 20th from 9:30am to 2:15pm.  Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht if you would like more information or to apply.  The four seats reserved for Oak Bay will be filled on a first come first serve basis.   Don’t delay!

Cst Perry has set up a questions/concerns box at the table in the counsellor center. Please feel free to forward any questions/concerns to Cst Perry in this manner or email her at sperry@oakbaypolice.org . Starting in November Cst Perry will be posting her office time at OB High through the morning announcements. She encourages everyone to come by to see her about any questions they may have or just even to chat.

Job Opportunities

A local parent is looking for someone to supervise, facilitate and provide chess instruction to a group of about six 10-12 year olds.  This position can be paid or volunteer.  Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre for more information.

Butchart Gardens is hiring for the summer and hosting a Job Fair on Wednesday February 13th.  Exclusive gate opening 6-8pm.  *Complimentary admission/no garden access*

O’Keeffe Automotive Service on 1220 Newport Avenue is looking for a part-time worker to come in a few days a week after school to do some basic office work (filing, data entry, etc.).   Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht if you are interested in applying.

Volunteering

Tsukino-Con 2019 Volunteer Opportunity – Tsukino-Con is a non-profit organization that hosts an annual anime, games, and Japanese culture convention on campus. We support a variety of charities including Child’s Play, the BC SPCA, as well as the Mustard Seed and UVIC Food Bank.
