Grads
Reminder that grad valedictorian nominations are due TODAY. Please consider putting your name forward or encouraging a class mate you think would be a great valedictorian.

Jr girls’ soccer tryout TODAY after school on the turf.

A big congratulations to our wonderful ski & snowboard team for a FANTASTIC final day in the Island Race Series at Mount Washington!!  OAK BAY REIGNS SUPREME!  On Monday the team earned first place in all four disciplines.  Overall for the season, OB brought home the gold in Boys SnowBoarding, Boys Skiing, Girls Skiing and a silver in Girls Boarding.

A few shout-outs from this week’s races:

  • The Boy’s Ski team swept the top 5!
  • A big WOOHOO to Railay Fawkes who earned gold, Gavin Bayley the Silver, and Jonathan Hart the Bronze for this week’s races
  • Great work to Jeff Trumble and Craig Hill for a gold and silver finish respectively in Boys Snowboarding
  • Kudos to Maddy Dickenmann for getting 1st out of the OB girl skiers in this week’s race
  • Great job to Board Captain Colleen McKee for securing the Bronze on the island.

Track & Field
Track and Field first team practice will be Wednesday, March 2nd at 3:15p.m. at the Oak Bay track. Everyone is welcome to join

Senior Girls Soccer!  Your first tryout will be on Tuesday February 22 at 3:15 on the turf.  Please use the QR code on one of the posters around the school to sign up.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Baker.

The Canada-wide University of Waterloo Math contest is on Wed. Feb.23rd in the library beginning at lunch, 11:35pm.  It is 1 hour long, so you will miss the first 10 mins of Block G if you signed up with Mrs. Smith to write it.  Please be on time with a pencil and calculator.  Good luck!

Trev & Joyce Deeley Research Centre High School Summer Internship is looking for grade 11 students interested in a Cancer Research to apply to the two month summer internship.  Students must meet certain criteria and be nominated by the school to apply.  Please talk to your science teacher or Ms. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre to see if you meet the criteria and get the application information. 

Math Students.  Do you want to make a difference during these trying times?  Many students need support with their math.  There are so many reasons to be a TA.  It feels good to help others.  You can receive credits.  You can receive volunteer hours.  You can receive reference letters.  Please contact your math teacher or contact tspray at tdspray@sd61learn.ca.  We could really use your help in math 9 through Calculus 12.  You can try it out for a while and if it is not the right thing for you, no worries.

At Mini Med School, you’ll have the opportunity to:

There are seats held specifically for students who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
