Mighty Oaks is a way to acknowledge especially extraordinary staff and students. Each week student council will randomly select a name from those submitted and show why they make Oak Bay a better place. If a member of the school community stands out to you, you can nominate them by filling out form at the link: bit.ly/obmightyoaks

You still have time to purchase a yearbook.  You can purchase a yearbook through school cash online or come to the office with your $65.00.

Attention Grade 11’s – Are you considering an American University after high school?  Grade 11 students will have an opportunity to write a Practice SAT (PSAT) exam the morning of Jan 26th in our library.  Seating is limited and will be issued on a first come first serve basis once the student has registered with Ms. Giesbrecht and paid the $25 fee.  Check-in will be at 7:45am with the exam to start at 8:00am and finish at approximately noon.  In order to secure your seat bring in a $25. cheque payable to Oak Bay High School to Ms. Giesbrecht as soon as possible.

Would you like to write the University of Waterloo Math Contest?  Open to Grades 9-12. The 1 hour math contests this year will be on February 24th (Gr.9,10,11) and April 7th (Gr.12) during Wed Support block.  The cost for you is $2 (you’ll get a contest and chocolate bar on contest day!)  Go to the Waterloo Math Contest website for practice exams and solutions:   https://www.cemc.uwaterloo.ca/contests/past_contests.html. Listen for announcements close to contest date for location.  Fill out the Google Form at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1_sMrSPSPk8RBzAJX-hkRM_cYRXRUrjZMiqiXR9t-Wa8/edit.   Please pay either Mrs. Smith in Rm 308 or Mr. Carter in Rm 307 by Jan.29th.  Good luck!

TEAC 105 – Explorations in Technology at Camosun  (grades 10-12) February 2021 start date.

Students interesting in exploring mechanical engineering, electronics, civil engineering and computer science will be introduced to career options and basic skills to help support their post-secondary decision making.  This course is on Friday afternoons for 13 weeks.  There is an application fee of $43.51 but students do not pay for the course.  Please contact Ms. Giesbrecht if you are interested in applying.
