Holiday Cookie Decorating will be held in the Cafeteria TODAY at lunch.  Everyone is welcome to come decorate a cookie.

Any students interested in joining The Dungeons and Dragons Club, please come to room 313 TODAY or Thursday at lunch.

Staff, please send a runner down to room 142 in Block A to grab a bag of oranges. Since there aren’t enough bags for all classes please do not take more than one. 

Congratulations to KATE CRAVEN, this month’s winner of the Oak Bay Book Read. Kate, please see Ms. Green to receive your $50 gift certificate to Bolen Books. To get your name in for the monthly draw all you have to do is read an Oak Bay Book Read selection and get your name added to the draw in the library. Pajama Day is coming up on Thursday, December 15th.  Wear your most festive PJ’s.

Congratulations to the Sr. Boys Volleyball team for their 4th-place finish at the BC Championships, highlighted by their 5-set victory over the #2 ranked team McMath.
Fraser Scott-Moncrieff was named to the Second All-Star team, and Kasper Giesbrecht was named to the Third All-Star Team.
This is Oak Bay’s fourth top-8 finish in a row, and their 17th consecutive trip to the Provincials in a sport with only three (not four) tiers of provincials.

The Fire Academy Training Division, mobile vehicle will be here on Monday morning December 12th.   A few students at a time will have an opportunity to take part in hands on interactive activities in the First Responder trailer which will be located outside the main entrance by the library during focus and at lunch. Students will have the opportunity to put on actual gear, and do a mock search pulling a hose through an open area and then a small confined space.  There will also be multiple Firefighter tools to look at.

Grade 11 or 12 students interested in Plumbing, Sprinkler fitting or Steam/Pipefitting may want to consider the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 324 Youth Employment Program which begins this summer.  To apply see Ms. Giesbrecht for an application.

Volunteering Opportunities

The Volunteer Coordinator for Baptist Housing is looking for volunteers who would like to volunteer regularly though the year.  Baptist Housing operates Shannon Oaks an independent living seniors home (just opposite Save on Foods), and Marion Village an Assisted Living/Independent Living community opposite Oak Bay Rec Center.   Students would help with activities, or with technology assistance.  They are also looking for performance level musicians.  Would you like to Volunteer with Baptist Housing?
