Are you interested in STEM?  UVic Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology offers grade 11 and 12 females to join the Schneider Electric Project from Jan. 22, to Apr. 8, 2024 to build your skills, test out Engineering and strengthen university applications.  The commitment of work will be 3-6 hours a week.  You will meet on Mondays from 7-8:15pm.  For more information please see the website: www.uvicwest.com

The University of Alberta is offering a U of A Getaway!  Twenty lucky students will be selected to visit North Campus in Edmonton from May 24-26, 2024.  This is an opportunity to test-drive a top 5 Canadian University, and to see first hand if Edmonton and the U of A are the right fit for you.  If selected, your experience will include accommodations, travel expense reimbursement and a whirlwind weekend of exciting events both on campus and in Edmonton.  More information about this experience is available at www.uab.ca/getaway  Applications will be accepted until the end of day on Jan. 31st, 2024.

UVic’s Gustavson School of Business is offering a free online workshop, Adulting 101: personal finance for students planning for college and university next week.  It is a great workshop for all students in grades 10-12 to plan for post-secondary.  The online session has two options:  December 12th at 6:00 pm (PST), or December 13th at 9:00 am (PST). Dr. Michael King will be covering some key components like budgeting for your first year of education, how to establish your credit scores, and more.   Students can sign up on our website here.  The registration button is below the description of our weekly info sessions for our BCom program.

Job Opportunities

Part time job – one hour per week visiting and playing games with a Shannon Oaks resident.  If you are cheerful and enjoy working with the elderly please come and see Ms. Giesbrecht for more information.
