Do you want to try a paid internship in carpentry?
Eligibility for the program is below:
- Grade 11 & 12 students
- Have a keen interest in Carpentry as a career
- Priority given to visible minorities and those who identify as female
- Priority given to those with a current driver’s license/Vehicle, reliable transportation
- Must be available to attend the in-person training session on Monday, June 29, on Fall Protection
- Must be available to attend a 1-day training session on Tuesday, June 30: Topics include safety/lifting, tool kit, jobsite behaviors, and expectations.
- Must be available for the entire duration of work experience, Monday, July 6 – Friday, August 28
As seats are limited to 8 this year, we will be unable to offer seats to ALL students that apply, however we will notify them if they are selected to participate.
Student applications, along with a resume, are due by April 30. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Giesbrecht in the career centre.
UVIC is hosting a Distinguished Women Scholars Lecture by Dr. Nora Newcombe, “Would Enhancing Spatial Thinking Enrich STEM Education?” on Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 PM in the DSB Building, Room C103. All are welcome to attend.
Health Exploration Pathways at Camosun College
Grade 10 & 11 students
When: Wednesday, May 6th 2026, from 9 am – 12 pm
Where: Camosun College Interurban’s Center for Health and Wellness
Why: To expose students to various Health Programs and learn more about Health
Dual Credit courses for Fall 2026.
What: Accepted students will need to make their own way to the Tolmie School Board office before 9 am.
Students will travel together by chartered bus to Camosun Interurban, then be dropped off at the Tolmie School Board Office at 12:15 pm. Alternate transportation methods can be taken, but must be communicated and pre-arranged.
*Specific details about the day will be shared if accepted to take part. Applications and Release Forms are due by Thursday, April 30th, to Ms. Giesbrecht.

British Columbia Island Youth Parliament, IYP, is a parliamentary simulation for youth to learn about government, parliamentary procedure, democracy, and, most importantly, how service ties into governance. IYP provides an opportunity for students to advocate for the communities they are part of through debating bills and legislation.
Island Ignite Mentorship Society is offering a short program tailored to provide young women in grades 11 & 12 (ages 15-18) the opportunity to participate in a firefighting camp on Vancouver Island. Volunteers needed for the 2026 Victoria MS Walk, happening on Sunday, May 31st, at Cadboro-Gyro Park. MS Walk is a one-day, community-driven fundraising event for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Volunteers are vital to the success of our fundraising efforts, and volunteering at MS Walk is a great opportunity for students to build a strong network, gain valuable experience and skills, and give back to the community. Volunteer shifts range from 2-5 hours, and students are welcome to sign up for multiple roles. PISE is excited to announce that the TD Family Sport and Recreation Festival will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at PISE. This is a FREE community event, and we are looking forward to welcoming families from across the region. We are currently seeking student volunteers who are interested in supporting the festival. Job Opportunities
A local couple is looking for assistance in their garden, cleaning up, weeding, trimming etc. Hours of work are pretty much totally flexible …..after school, weekends, etc….as much or as little as the student wants. Experience is not required …..just need a good work ethic and reliable character. All tools supplied. Rate of pay: $20 per hour. See Ms. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre if you are interested.
