Reminder:  Those students selected to write the PISA (Programme of International Student Assessment) are to meet in room 200 on their assigned day at 8:25am.

Many students who requested dual credit psychology have not handed in their application to Mrs. Giesbrecht. You will have until the end of Monday, April 30th to do so.  Based on the number of applications received by Friday a decision will be made whether there will be one or two dual credit psychology classes next year.   

The following students requested the course but have not yet handed in the forms:  Spencer Boorman, Aiden Bowen, Findlay Day, Simran Gupta, Gigi Hahn, Nuala Irving, Cooper Jantzen, Dalton Kolkema, Zoe Mathers, Carley May, Elizabeth McFallon, Kayley McNaughton, Annalise Molony, Zach Monckton, Stella Pearce, Lindsay Simpson, Zoe Stewart, Casey Tadla, Danny Wang, Thea Witteveen, Cherry Yan, Mackenzie Young, Samuel Zacharias and Wenxi Zhang.

The Fairmont Empress is having a Career Fair on Wednesday April 25th from 9:00am to 12:00pm in the Crystal Ballroom. Please see the posters up in the school outside the Career Centre.

Tickets for bus transport from the Block Party to the Laurel Point Inn will be sold by the Theater on Monday, April 30th and Wednesday, May 2nd at lunchtime for $5.00 (exact change please). This will be the only time to get these tickets.

The Youth Internship Program at Recreation Oak Bay (Ages 15-18yrs)
An excellent opportunity!
Loved the summers at camp when you were a kid and always remembered those great leaders and mentors?
Now is your chance to give back as a summer camp intern. This Youth Internship Program is working in recreation with children, and gaining work experience over the summer. You will have the opportunity to build your leadership and employment readiness skills in a fun and supportive environment. There is a $500 honorarium per successful candidate who successfully completes the program.
Criteria to apply:

  • A resident or attend a school in the District of Oak Bay.
  • Between the age of 15-18years.
  • Willing to work 4 weeks in summer camps with children between the ages of 4-12year.
  • Consent to a criminal record check.
  • Attend 5 hours of Youth Internship orientation and Leadership Training: Time TBA.
  • Attend Oak Bay Summer Staff training on a Saturday and Sunday in June for two full days.

Volunteer Opportunity

The James Bay Market Society  – The James Bay Community Market is an open air, rain or shine market operating on the corner of Menzies and Superior in James Bay every Saturday, May 5th to September 29th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Every week local residents and international travellers shop at the market for fresh farm products and unique artisan creations. The market also has live local music all day along with a fun children’s craft area and a picnic area to relax while you grab a bite to eat from one of our many hot food vendors.
We have several Volunteer positions open including Set Up and Tear Down assistant, Coffee and Information Kiosk Attendant and Children’s Tent Assistant. Task descriptions and application can be found on our webpage: http://jamesbaymarket.com/volunteer/
