Students writing the Euclid Math contest are reminded to be in the library by 12:45 tomorrow (Wednesday).  Be sure to bring pencil(s), eraser and scientific calculator with you.

Operation Wallacea Mexico 2020, meeting Thursday at lunch in room 227. First deposit is due by Friday- please see Mr. Ashurst to reserve your spot!

Jr. Boys Volleyball meeting after school TODAY in room 207.

“Countess Maritza” is playing at The Royal Theatre on Tuesday, April 23rd at 7:00pm.  Tickets are $15.  Please see Manjit in room 213 if you would like to purchase a ticket.

All grade 11’s that signed up for Dual Credit Psychology, Biology, Entrepreneurship and Geography for next school year, need to attend a mandatory meeting this Thursday in Focus in the theatre with Mr. Alexander and Mrs. Giesbrecht.  We will be going over important info and the application process for Camosun’s Dual Credit process – bring a pen or pencil – we have forms to complete!

Please try and arrange your rides and coaches will be at OBH parking lot right after to school to provide rides to players who have pre-arranged them.  Reminder to bring water and your jersey and your $60 for your gear if you have not already paid.  Jerseys will only be released to those players who have paid.

“Kids for a Cause” Club is collecting any new and unused hygiene products to be donated.  Some of the things they need are:  toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and more.  They will be collecting these items in the boxes around the school until April 15th. 

Reminder to sailors first practice is this Saturday, those who need online payment, it’s now available.  Brief meeting Wednesday at lunch in room 312 to confirm times and answer questions.

There will be a meeting at the start of lunch Thursday for golfers, in room 307. Please be prompt so everyone can get news at the same time. If you are a golfer and have not yet signed up for tryouts, please do so soon as the deadline for registration with BC School Sports is very soon!

Come support the Barbs rugby team as they kick off their provincial championship defence on Friday at Centennial Stadium. Kick-off is 2:30.

Please consider joining Cst. Perry for Focus Block YOGA starting TODAY in the Black Box.  Please bring a yoga mat if you can.

 Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology is a non-profit association that promotes, encourages and empowers women and girls in science, engineering and technology.  They offer an 8 week free eMentoring Program for STEM Careers.  Essentially students will pair up with a female role models across BC in science, tech, engineering & math careers.  Over email they will discuss career path, post-secondary life, work environments, finances, work/life balance, and what to do with your degree.  Applications are due by April 5th.  Please come and see Mrs. Giesbrecht if you are interested.

Volunteering

Need volunteer hours? Like working with kids? Live close to Margaret Jenkins Elementary? EMJS PAC is looking for reliable babysitters that can child mind during PAC meetings at the school, about two hours 7-9 pm on the last Thursday of each month. Contact jmcdiarmid@sd61.bc.ca for more info.

 

Victoria Highland Games is looking for volunteers.  The 156th Victoria Highland Games &Celtic Festival will be held in Victoria on May 18-20, 2019.  Volunteer opportunities include: selling tickets, providing info to visitors, helping with fun competitions and activities, helping out in the Celtic Music tent and so much more!
