AP English 12 review sessions have begun in preparation for the exam on May 14. These review sessions are optional and will take place every Monday and Wednesday at lunch in 216 from April 3 until the exam date.

Are you learning English and looking for a fun way to practice your English?  Then come and try the ESL Buddies Games Club at lunch today in the Library.  Every Monday, students learning English are welcome to join this fun, free club.  If you want more information, see Ms. Brereton in Room 120.

Interact Club is collecting used small household appliances to donate to refugee families from Ukraine. Check with friends and family, bring donations to room 209 on Wednesday, April 17th at lunch.

Ms. Giesbrecht is looking for a couple of volunteers to help with the SD61 Career Fair on April 25th.  One shift is from 7:45am-9:30am helping exhibitors set up their tables, help with any technology needs and direct incoming students to exhibitors.  The other shift is from 2:00pm–3:30pm helping exhibitors take down their table displays and general tidy up.  If you can help out, please see Ms. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre.

The University of King’s College Halifax will have a table set up outside the Career Centre on Wednesday April 17th at lunch.
Oztrekk representatives will be in the Career Centre after school on Monday April 22nd to talk about direct entry into Law, Medicine and Dentistry through Australian universities.
Concordia University will have a table set up outside the Career Centre at lunch on Wednesday April 24th.

Islands Youth Parliament – Apr 26-28. Ages 14 – 18. Opportunity for youth to learn about government, parliamentary procedure, democracy, and most importantly, how service ties into governance. IYP provides an opportunity for students to advocate for the communities they are part of through debating bills and legislation. 30th IYP Application Form

UVic’s Student Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics –  IMAGINING UVic (Inspiring Mathematical Growth and Intuition in Girls) is a summer camp aimed at encouraging young women (entering Grade 11 or 12 in September to pursue STEM fields. Can Gap will be hosting a Gap Year Expo information session will take place at Esquimalt High on April 23rd from 7-8pm. Volunteering Opportunities

Gary is looking for volunteers photographers for a soccer tournament this weekend.  It takes place at Topaz Park on April 6 and 7 from 9am-4pm both days.  He is looking for a couple of volunteers each day.  If students are interested please call Gary at 250-514-0457 up to Friday evening to make arrangements.

The Greater Victoria Green Team needs your help! We are working with the University of Victoria’s Campus Planning & Sustainability Department to bring an inclusive community engagement activity to UVic campus (Sedgewick building) on Sunday March 17th!  From 9:45am-1pm on Sunday March 17th we will be removing invasive plants like English ivy from the forest on campus to help increase biodiversity and make the area more resilient and functional for wildlife!  NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! ALL AGES, backgrounds and abilities are invited. Gloves, tools, snacks, educational instruction and a small thank you gift will be provided. Come for as long or as little as you’re able to.
