As most of you likely know, there was a recent tragedy in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.  The Humboldt family has been significantly impacted by this devastating accident.  A Nation-wide event has been organized to show support for the Humboldt Broncos.  From our Oak Bay family to the Humboldt family, let’s show our support by wearing any jersey (club, team, or school jersey) this Thursday, April 12th.  #jerseysforhumboldt

Reminder to all students writing the Euclid Math Competition that the competition is being written today from 12:30 – 3:15pm in the library.  Bring your pencils, erasers, and calculators!

Come out & support the Barbs rugby team as they take on Earl Marriott on FRIDAY after school up at UVic’s Wallace Field at 2:30pm.

All golfers are asked to be in room 307 at the start of lunch TODAY for a team photo for the yearbook. Please dress appropriately, and be prompt so as not to keep the photographer waiting long. Also remember that the second tryout round at Uplands Golf Course is that afternoon starting at 3:45 pm

Wednesday, April 18th, join the Cultural Connection Club and come try Bollywood dancing after school.  Bollywood Beats Victoria will be coming in to give Oak Bay students a free Bollywood dance lesson from 3:10-4:10pm in the Dance Studio.  No dance experience required.

Opera Tickets – Anyone wishing to see Rinaldo by Handel please see Manjit after school in room 213.  Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 at the Royal Theatre, tickets are $15 each.

COME TO THE SD61 CAREER FAIR AND SIGN UP TO WIN AN IPAD.
SD61 is having their annual Career Fair on April 19th from 9:00am to 2:30pm at Archie Browning Curling Arena, 1151 Esquimalt Rd.  Students will take a bus leaving from Oak Bay at 11:15 and returning to the school by 12:45. There will be approximately 80 exhibitors attending and more committing to the event each day. See the current list here.   All Oak Bay students are welcome to attend. Prior Castle Inn (B&B -7 rooms) in Oak Bay has openings for part-time (or full-time in summer) student cleaners and a breakfast cook/relief cook. YOUTH GET IT INTERNS AT COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS
Opportunities for students entering Grade 11 and 12 in September 2018 to be paid members of our Youth Get It Interns. They work as community ambassadors and as Member Service Representatives helping our members in our branches.  Being a Youth Get It Intern is a job that requires professionalism and a friendly and helpful attitude. Students will gain skills like leadership, community relations and financial literacy that prepare them for their future endeavours.
Responsibilities
Represent Coast Capital Savings at community events
Work part-time after school or on weekends during the school year
Work full-time in the summer, 5 days per week
Work as a Member Service Representative helping our members in one of our branches
Complete 25 volunteer hours focusing on teaching financial literacy
Take part in a team building camp

Grade 12’s participating in the Graduation Ceremony on June 6th, 2018 please check the list outside the office.  Your Oak Bay High Certificate will be printed with your “usual first and last name.”  If you would like a different name (formal/legal name etc.) printed on your certificate, please see Ms. S by FRIDAY, APRIL 13thYour Dogwood Certificate will have your LEGAL NAME printed on it.
