Any student who plays golf and has an official BCGA handicap, and who thinks they might be interested in playing for the school team MUST sign up with Mr. Carter as soon as possible. The deadline for team registration this year is April 10th. If you have not made your intention known to Mr. Carter before then, it is likely you will not be allowed to play for the school. Tryouts will take place, most likely, during the first 2 weeks after Spring Break.

Congratulations to the 3 Oak Bay students who recently participated in the regional Canada Skills Competition in Photography held at Camosun College. Students from all over the lower island participated. Representing Oak Bay were Kiera Bogle, Joel LeVecque (Bronze Medal) and John Jacob Pascual (Silver Medal). An impressive Finish for Oak Bay with 2 of the top spots. Well Done!!

Reminder to sailors to turn forms in to Mr. Schippers in room 312 by Friday.

 “Kids for a Cause” Club is collecting any new and unused hygiene products to be donated to the Cridge Transition House for Women. Some of the things they need are:  Toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and more.  They will be collecting these items in the boxes around the school from March 11th to April 15th.

Pacific Design Academy is having an open house TODAY from 4-7pm.  Come by and meet instructors and learn about App & Web Design, Graphic Design, Apparel Design, Building Design & Structure and Digital Photography.

Previous Announcements

Our Ski & Snowboard Team had an absolutely amazing journey north to Smithers for the Provincial Championships.  It was an awesome event and an experience of a lifetime for all who traveled!  We had our best results yet at a provincials.  Our  Girls’ Ski Team  came 5th in GS, and 4th in Terrain.  We are SUPER proud of our girls!   Our  Boys’ Ski Team  came 5th in GS, and 7th in Terrain.  Way to go boys!   Griffen Hart missed TOP 10 by 0.01 of a second.  Our  COMBINED Ski Team  came 3rd.  That is an awesome result!   Our Boys’ snowboard team came 5th in GS, and 4th in Terrain.  Jake Trumble was our lead scorer (15th in GS and 11th in terrain).  Congratulations to all team members.

We at Oak Bay HQ regret to inform you that Nutty has not yet been found.  We have discovered this clue to help you find Nutty!  Here it is:

Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology is a non-profit association that promotes, encourages and empowers women and girls in science, engineering and technology.  They offer an 8 week free eMentoring Program for STEM Careers.  Essentially students will pair up with a female role models across BC in science, tech, engineering & math careers.  Over email they will discuss career path, post-secondary life, work environments, finances, work/life balance, and what to do with your degree.  Applications are due by April 5th.  Please come and see Mrs. Giesbrecht if you are interested.
