Grade 9 boys basketball tryouts will be held this week in the big gym on Friday and Saturday from 4-5:30.
The Art & Culture Trip will be selling Pizza TODAY at lunchtime to fundraise for next summer’s trip.
Tonight the Astronomy Club will he hosting its first Star Party of the year! Drop by Cattle Point between 7:00 & 9:00 to catch an up-close look at Saturn’s rings or the Andromeda Galaxy. Hope to see you there.
Camosun is having an Open House at their Interurban Campus on November 8th from 11 am to 2 pm. Bring your questions and engage in hands-on activities, presentations, and campus tours. Police Camp 2026 will be the first week of Spring Break, Saturday, March 14 to Saturday, March 21st. It is an eight-day leadership program for students from grades 10-12. Camp will be held at St Margaret’s School, like last year. Come by to learn more! Go Eng Girl – Engineering for Every Body – Saturday, Nov. 22nd, 11:00 am @ UVic. Go ENG Girl is a national event held by Universities across Canada, designed to introduce high school girls, non-binary, and gender-diverse youth to the world of engineering. Volunteering Opportunities
Greater Victoria Green Team is looking for volunteers for several days in November and December to help improve the environment. You will have an opportunity to plant native species and remove different invasive species. This is the type of volunteering that all students, including international students, can take part in. ReStore is looking for volunteers. They have two locations – Victoria ReStore at 721 Vanalman Avenue, and Westshore ReStore at 849 Orono Avenue. Both stores support Habitat Victoria, helping to raise funds for local working families to achieve affordable homeownership in our local communities. ReStores are open 7 days per week, with a particular need for weekend volunteers. Student volunteer shifts are 2-4 hours between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (11:00 am – 5:00 pm on Sundays). Students are welcome to request specific shifts, and we can be very flexible for the most part. More specifics on this can be discussed at the time of application. They ask that students commit to at least their full 30 hours with us (100 for WEX). On-the-job training is provided. Anyone under 19 years must have a parent/guardian’s permission. 16+ only. Volunteers must be able to work independently, follow directions, and also collaborate with employees and other volunteers. Here’s the link to apply: https://www.habitatvictoria.com/volunteer
ReStore volunteer duties can include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving and sorting donations
- Cleaning and tagging donations
- Merchandising the store floor
- Keeping the store clean and tidy
- Moving furniture and merchandise
- Assisting customers
